Exotic. yet comfortably classic – the way Enzo would have designed a Cobra.   The chassis is lower. wider and longer. with a more accommodating cockpit.   Smoothly flared front fenders. narrow waist and bulging rear arches submit to long. thick sidepipes and a bellowing V8 roar.   Yang yields to yin in this ultimate expression of automotive virility.  

This is the brutally refined Backdraft Racer. and it turns heads everywhere.   At the Woodward Dream Cruise. Ferraris and Lambos were slighted when they pulled alongside.   Upfront parking was reserved for this car when it transported us to Orchestra Hall and the Detroit Symphony.   At Fleming's Steakhouse. valets paid us to let them park it.   With about 1. 00 produced to date. the Backdraft is as rare as a Ferrari 458 – and equally fast to 100.

The condition of the car is excellent.   It was valued at $55. 00 on 7/2012 by an accredited member of the American Society of Appraisers (“Simatos Automotive Appraisals” of Harrison Township. Michigan).   Values have since risen.   The 2012 appraisal can be provided. or updated with proof of buyer interest.

Despite ferocious potential. this car has never been driven on a track.

UPGRADES:

At approximately 6. 00 miles. I upgraded the car.   My intention was to subtly lower the car's roll center. improve handling. and maximize braking performance – provide real racecar chops - while maintaining or improving the excellent boulevard ride.   I consulted Reg Dodd. one of the owners of Backdraft Racing.   In an abundance of kindness. and over the course of several hours. Reg provided his recommendations.   I hired an ex-Roush/NASCAR mechanic to help implement them.

·        New 3. 64 limited slip differential ($1. 00)

·        Turner Motorsports suspension including adjustable castor and spherical trailing arm/rear control arm bushings

·        Wilwood 6-pot/4-pot sport brakes with red calipers. slotted/drilled rotors and street/track pads.   Installed new at 7. 00 miles ($3. 00)

·        Sparco 12” suede-lined flat-bottomed steering wheel (better grip and more comfort)

·        Cobra sport seats with Pirelli rubber suspension system. strongly recommended by Reg Dodd ($1. 00)

·        Dual chrome Raydot mirrors with convex lenses and center mounted 360mm Broadway convex racing mirror (provides 160 degree side and rear vision)

·        New set of BDR monogram mats ($300)

·        Wider and stickier Nitto "01" rubber (non-BDR part)

·        Optima lightweight racing battery (non-BDR part)

    We aligned the car at world-famous AutoEurope in Birmingham. Michigan.   Our improvements resulted in a car with handling. brakes and acceleration suited to the Nordschleife. and a Sunset Boulevard ride perfect for cruises and long tours (kudos to those Pirelli suspension seats - thanks. Reg).   Possibly the prettiest and best-optioned Backdraft in existence. offered at a fair price.
