1960 Buick Invicta Custom Convertible

Beautiful restoration

Excellent driving automobile

Original 'Titian Red'

Rare bucket seat option

Here up for bids is this terrific Buick convertible. a 1960 Invcta Custom.   This car was restored with a quality repaint and fresh interior. along with an engine rebuild and recent mechanical freshening.   You can tell that this was a good car to start with. it features excellent original sheetmetal and an extremely solid undercarriage with no rust issues or areas of previous repair.   The 3rd digit of the VIN is '2'. which designates that the car was assembled at the South Gate. California GM plant. it has remained on the West Coast since new.   The car was optioned with very rare bucket seats. and an even more rare center console. which was only made available after mid year in 1960.   Of all the '60 Buicks. very few had this option and even fewer had the console. this equipment is original to the car.

Only 5. 36 Invicta convertibles were made for 1960.   This example is turn-key. ready for carefree motoring and top down enjoyment.

The car wears a high quality repaint in its original color of Titian Red. code LL.   The car was painted with all trim off. you'll find no areas of overspray or other imperfections. this is nice paint.   The body is arrow straight with excellent sightlines.   The finish is glass smooth and shows no rippling or waviness.   Tires are new Hankook's with very low miles.   All 4 wheelcovers are unrestored and still in good original condition.

All of the car's trim is original. they have a few tiny dings if you go looking for them but overall are clean and straight with good chrome.   The rear bumper has been rechromed. the front is original and shows a little age.

The body is very straight with crisp lines and good panel fit.   It has no dings. dents or scrapes. although there's one inexplicable area on the right door where the paint has cracked. see the 4th photo below.   This is the biggest flaw on the car.

Vintage T3 and GE headlights. Tail lights are in great shape with no crazing or fading.

Nice trunk compartment with original jacking equipment.

The power soft top is in excellent condition and has good operation up and down.   The zip down window is clear and pliable.

The interior is a strong point. it has been redone in the correct pattern and is pretty sharp everywhere you look.

Excellent carpet. sills. jambs and floor mats.   The driver's power seat operates correctly.   Power windows all operate smoothly.  The center console opens to form a tray for rear seat passengers.   Included inside is an assortment of original literature including an owner's manual and dealer brochures.

Nice rear seat area. terrific door panels. new weatherstripping.

The steering wheel looks like new and has no cracks or splits.   All of the heater. fan. and ventilation sliders move freely and work correctly.   The Wonder Bar radio works great. its lucite push buttons are still intact. hard to find in this condition.

Lights. wipers. horn - all working.   The only inoperative item is the clock.   Additionally. the glovebox needs a new push button latch. for now a piece of rubber on the latch holds it in place.   The dashtop finish is clean and the car's ashtrays are unused.

The "Mirrormagic" display always gets a smile from first time viewers.   If you've never seen one. it works by reflecting a reverse image of the actual speedometer hidden under the dash.
On the firewall. the car's trim code of 649 reflects the bucket seat option.

The numbers-matching 401 Nailhead starts instantly and runs excellent.   This Wildcat 445 mill has a super smooth. super balanced idle and loads of power on tap. it moves this large vehicle with ease.   The Turbine Drive transmission works perfectly with the imperceptible shifts it is known for.   The drivetrain on this car is perfectly dialed in. you'll like the way this Buick drives.   Recent work includes a carb rebuild. new wheel bearings. all new brakes. steering box adjustment and a full tune-up.   The car is ready for the road.

Nice looking undercarriage with no accident history. no rust issues and all original floorpans.   An altogether excellent 53 year old Buick.
