1938 Simca Cinq Topolino Cabriolet (Fiat 500) Beautiful Restored Vintage Classic

      The 1938 Simca Cinq is a rare variant of the original Fiat Cinquecento (500). affectionately dubbed “Topolino. meaning little mouse. built under Fiat license by Simca (Societe Industrielle de Mecanique et Carrosserie Automobile) in Nanterre. France.
     Designed by the brilliant engineer. Dante Giacosa and introduced in 1936. it surpassed all expectations for such a small car by having such advanced features as independent front suspension. a four speed gearbox. hydraulically operated drum brakes on all four wheels. and a twelve volt electrical system.  Promotional materials boasted a top speed of 53 MPH coming from just 13 HP. and fuel economy of 40 MPG. truly a remarkable design.  
   I discovered this extraordinary example in Holland ending a fifteen year search for an original specification Topolino in pristine condition. Unfortunately most of these very early "Topolinos" that found their way to the the USA were later converted to dragsters when they had little value in their stock configuration.   This rare example sports French specification yellow headlights. cloth trimmed seats as well as other charmingly Gallic touches including optional semaphores and full bumpers that do not appear on the more basic standard Italian Fiat 500.     A later addition. conventional turn signals for safety were fitted and unobtrusively integrated. as this car was restored to be driven. not just trailered to shows. A lifetime would be spent searching for another Simca Cinq that has withstood the ravages of the tin worm over the course of a seventy five year history. You will not see yourself coming and going in this little gem.      A beautifully restored original very early Simca Cinq (Fiat Topolino "A") Cabriolet with interior featuring period correct cloth trimmed seats as well as cloth retractable folding top that will always be appreciated for its vintage Deco charm that never fails to turn heads and elicit broad smiles wherever passed on the road or when seen parked at the curb among even the most expensive "exotics".
   A recent complete service including all new new brake hydraulics and engine electrics will allow this very rare special pre-war Topolino to be driven with confidence.
