Ford escort mk1 GT 2 door 1971

Hi and welcome to this auction for my 1971 J-Reg  Escort mk1 2dr which is a genuine GT model in Maize yellow. this colour was only available for 1 year on the escort so it is very rare.
The car has 12 months M. O. T and 12 months tax (exempt)
The engine is a 2. 2 Lotus 900 series as used in the Sunbeam Lotus. Lotus Esprit & Excel etc. For those unfamiliar with these it is a 4 cylinder slant engine. it's all alloy so it's very light in comparison with pinto's etc. The engine was recently fully rebuilt less than 600 miles ago. the spec is as follows.

The car was recently rolling road tuned and produced 174bhp AT THE REAR WHEELS. so arguably around 200bhp at the flywheel. this really is a quick car!!
The gearbox is a Toyota Supra WR58 5-speed which is not a mismatch. Lotus used this box in the later Excels and it is a verystrong - light - compact unit. fitted in place with a bespoke gearbox mount.
At the rear end is the usual English axle but fitted with a Quaife ATB L. S. D (new recently) with a 3. 9 diff. anti tramp bars have been fitted.
Suspension. Gaz adjustable coilovers on the front and Gaz adjustable shox on the rear with proper mk1 50mm single leaf rear springs - de-cambered (Gartrac) with 1" lowering blocks and fully pollybushed throughout.
Brakes. AP 4 pot (princess) calipers up front on cross-drilled vented discs. on the rear axle we have a new disc conversion using Sierra calipers and fiesta discs with an Escort mk5 handbrake cable. The car is also fitted with a Bias box using Willwood master cylinders and a remote servo tucked away behind the front wing and covered with a guard. The brakes have just had a full overhaul for the M. O. T and they stop the car very well. much better in fact than my daily driver VW Passat.
The alloy wheels are Midland wheels RS 7x13's fitted with175 -50-13 Yokohama A539's. all as new condition.
The interior is fitted with a pair of leather Recaro's. RS2000 130mph 6 dial clocks (6 dials came as standards in the GT model but with 110mph speedo so the dash has not been cut up to fit them). A black headliner is fitted and in excellent condition. a full wood pack. a center console and a Springlex style deep dish steering wheel. The car was fitted from new with a webasto sunroof which is still in very good condition. leak free and a really nice addition in the weather we are having at the moment cruising around in the sunshine.
Outside the car has excellent bumpers. the front being 1/4 bumpers. the headlights are Australian repro's that use Halogen H4 bulbs. far far brighter than the original units.  
Now for the bad points.  Please read!!.
Following the recent engine build there is a trace of engine oil getting into the coolant. I changed the oil and coolant 60 miles ago and there is now a film of oil on top of the coolant in the expansion tank. however water/coolant is not getting into the oil?Obviously this needs looking at and although the engine still runs lovely I would advise that the car not be driven until this problem is fixed. The passenger side door handle isn't opening from the outside but opens ok from the inside.  So to sum up this is a really really nice mk1 that has been built to a very high spec. yes it needs the oil/coolant problem looking at but once that is fixed you will have yourself a top spec show car. Beware! This Escort gets lots of attention everywhere you go. Here are a few more pics and a couple of vids.
