I bought this 87 Samurai rust free in Couer d'Alene Idaho and it began smoking shortly after so I spared no expense in the ultimate motor conversion for it. The motor was bought from Brax Euro parts in Divide. Mt. who gets containers shipped from Germany of the 1. 6 l vw diesels with about 30 k on them. I then had Vw experts at Auto Stop in Bozeman Mt. tear it down and put new rings rods and rod bearings. along with several other new parts and gaskets. along with machining and resetting the head. I purchased the coveted axis conversion kit and 3" lift from Rocky Road Outfitters and the Acme Radiator conversion kit from Acme Adaptors. Auto Stop in Bozeman performed the conversion as well. the 4 x 4 experts at Mike's Off Road in Bozeman installed the lift kit. the rig has about 6 k miles on it since the build. the tires are Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs that have no noticeable wear on them. the top I bought new and is still in good shape. these engines are known to go 300 k miles with no problems. excellent fuel mileage. Amazingly tight 4 x 4. no rattles. I encourage any interested buyers to research all the business I mentioned above. I invested 13 k in the build. call
