1975 Scimitar SE5a

We bought this car in 1982. . The car had no chassis rust or body cracks. A good engine and Manual gearbox. Perfect black interior. But we wanted to do the ultimate restoration.

We lifted off the body. dismantled the chassis components and had the frame fine blasted and zinc sprayed. Then painted with two coats of Rylard black enamel. All running gear and chassis components carefully checked and refitted with new bolts.

New coil springs and Koni shocks.

Stainless exhausts made and fitted. Engine heads off. checked. lightly skimmed. new valves and seats. Changed gearbox to more desirable Man/od and used a new overdrive unit.

Body replaced and sent to spray shop.

Doors rehung on refurbished hinges. Re wired with new loom. new brakes and pipes. spare new louvred bonnet.

At this point. with a car in the garage in 'as new' but unfinished condition we took on a huge boat restoration and time vanished. After a couple of years very distressed to see bubbles appearing in the new body paintwork . only on high spots but - too late to return to the now defunct spray shop.

Everything more or less ground to a halt on the car for 35 years.

We must have spent over two thousand in parts on this project and have masses of good/new spares put aside. Good extra set of leather seats. spare doors with electric winders. spare new louvered bonnet. New head and tail light clusters. New towbar. Bills for everything.

Someone needs to rub down and repaint the shell in some areas (metallic colour "Rausch Silber"). Doors. bonnet(s) are still good.

Nothing new is needed - just final assembly and setting up details. We are too old to cope with this and want someone to take car and spares together. Apart from a set of new tyres. everything is present and in new or good condition to complete the car.

Nothing is missing and no money needs spending. only time doing final assembly.

Need to fit internal trim. dashboard and instruments. side windows and tailgate. gutters. door seals. locks. exhaust pipes. front brake cylinders and shoes. Engine bay accessories. spare wheel platform. Seats. bonnet.

I may have missed a few minor details but emphasise that the kit is all there to finish the car including all the required fastenings.

Everything has been stored in dry. clean condition and checked through while moving to the present store.

As stated. the paintwork has bubbles so the cost of respraying in various areas (75% is good) must be considered.
