Pontiac Tempest LeMans - GTO Tribute 400ci 6.5 litre V8 muscle car for sale
Current customer rating: (307 votes ) based onWelcome to the sale of this stunning black tribute 1969 Pontiac GTO. The spec of this car originally was a Tempest Le Mans. but was later upgraded to the GTO. including the all important 400ci engine. which translates to 6. 5 litres of V8 muscle! It was then imported to the uk. where on the 04-Apr-2013 it's paperwork was stamped by HM Revenue & Customs. So it has been here for between 3 - 4 years. and has been dry stored during that time. The car shows just over 81. 00 miles. I do not know if this is correct. it seems unlikely. since most parts on this car appear to have been swapped during it's life. including the engine. exchanged for the glorious 400ci power plant it has now.
Condition:
This car has a decent paint job in a dark grey/metallic black (I'm not 100% sure. but it really suits the car - you decide). there are two black stripes that run end to end. which are inherently subtle. due to the rest of the car being so dark. To break up the black. there is plenty of chrome in and out the car. as would be expected on a car of this era. I believe from a mechanical and cosmetic viewpoint. this car was made up of parts from various years around the correct era. to create a usable and good looking car that could be utilised as part of a driving experience (not by Rockingham). this didn't happen and the vehicles ended up in Rockingham's ownership.
The car has had minimal use. and has been kept in good running order. while being stored in our workshop at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby. Northamptonshire. This car is owned by the circuit along with a few other vehicles. one of which was a Dodge Charger General Lee tribute. which has now been sold. None of our cars are road registered. as we have no need for them to be. though I have had a recent quote to have this GTO registered for the road. which I shall be happy to show to any potential buyer. I was interested for myself. but realistically I don't have the space for it.
With this car being a classic. it is very hard to put across how the car is with pictures and video alone. though I have tried my best to represent the car how it is right now. The only real way to know if the car meets your expectations is to view it yourself. With that in mind. it would be fine to arrange a professional inspection of the vehicle (such as AA or RAC). but bringing a friend to take it apart to try and find an issue. can become a bore as I am sure we have all experienced at some point or another. I have not had much of a chance to look over the car myself yet. though did charge the battery and check the fluid levels before I started it to shoot the video and pictures for this listing. During this time I would note. the engine runs well. The gearbox. when 'P' is selected. does not appear to lock the flywheel. This is likely a simple fix with a solenoid or such like. if I get the chance to look I shall. Other than this the gearbox and torque converter seem exactly as it should be. The is a gearbox dipstick in the engine bay too. the oil is good and at the right level. There is a dink in the roof on the offside. I believe this could be pulled out with minimal fuss. there is no paint damage or distorted metal. The bumper. bonnet and offside lower light lens need to be moved slightly for correct gaps. though is really not a big deal. One of the rear bulbs is blown too. this is all I have seen. The brakes seem good and strong as does the engine and gearbox as said.
Please visit the following link for an HD video. with yours truly 'erm-ing' all the way through (apologies in advance!). I believe I call window winders wipers too. you shall see! I also included a far higher quality recording of the engine starting. idling and revving too at the end. as the rest of the sound is captured on an iphone. during the portion that has the engine running. I hope this helps: https://youtu. be/btJKWredqik
Viewing:
Viewing is by appointment only please. the circuit is a secure site and I am not there all the time. so if you are not expected it shall most likely become a wasted trip. which I wish to avoid. Please contact me through this listing and I shall get back to you as quickly as possible. I shall be happy to take a serious potential buyer out for a short run. we won't be taking this car on track. though there are plenty of other places to run the vehicle on site. so you can be satisfied with the mechanical condition as would be expected. I shall have to remain in control of the vehicle. as this is not a road insurance situation and a racing circuit. I am covered as a circuit employee. but the public are unfortunately not.
Payment:
We are not car dealers and so don't provide warranties. finance or any other dealer facilities. As such the car is sold as seen. spares or repairs. no warranty given or implied. Come and ensure you are happy with what you are buying. you won't be rushed and there is no 'salesman' to give you the hard sell. Our accounts director shall write the sales receipt for the buyer. for proof of sale / ownership. then the paperwork and both keys shall be issued to the new owner. Payment can be made by Cash or card (within our operating hours). cheque and bankers draft are options. but as you would expect. they must clear in the bank before the vehicle is released. for which our account manager could generate appropriate paperwork for peace of mind. We don't have a linked Paypal account (or Ebay. which is why I am listing it on my own account) so we would not take this method of payment. You shall need an appropriate trailer or transporter to take the car away. due to it not being registered for the road (this shall be obvious to most - but not all. :-)
Thank you for your interest. please send me any questions you have through Ebay. and I shall get back to you as soon as possible - usually very quickly.
