Recent major engine and brake expenditure

Background to the car :

Please Note: the vehicle will be back on its original UK Number Plate for auction end which is : KFL101G

V. I. N. 124AS0009522

Registered back in the UK : 22-09-2016

MOT : 23 -08-2017

Manufactured 01-01-1968

First imported into the UK 24-03-1993

During the next 14 years the car was subject to RHD Conversion

The car was then purchased and exported to The Republic of Ireland 19-04-2007 before being repatriated back to the UK by myself in 2015.

In this process I did drive the car back from Ireland but realised that the brakes left a lot to be desired “ which was rectified with a full brake overhaul . he other issue was the car was down ont  power and  burning oil ‘ so the  head was removed new valve stem oil seals replaced valve clearance checked . ylinder block bored and liners fitted . ew rings . rank ground and new bearing sets and thrust washers .

The car also had an Abarth inlet manifold with twin solex down draughts unfortunately the carburettors where  well past their sell by” date . /span>

These have been replaced with pattern 40 mm twin IDF Units jetted for the engine .

The car now starts and runs a lot more efficiently

. s can be seen' the car has been fitted with front and seats from what I believe “ is the Alfa Romeo 147 GT which the previous owner said to make for a more comfortable ride plus the rears having the benefit of rear seat belts being fitted  . he only other non standard being the alloy wheels . uffice to say both items would be easy to change if the new owner so desired to bring her back to original specification .

Condition of the vehicle : I will be as critical as I can ( Please read my feedback on classic cars sold ) but please " remember this is from my perspective  . our own viewing on the car is most welcome .

Overall Condition:

Considering she is some 48 years young “

In very good condition “

Exterior”

The coach work is highly presentable with a deep shine. he flanks straight and true . /span>

Bumpers both back and front are in very good condition likewise the lighting . lease note the lights arte the original continental units fitted with beam deflectors .

The hood is excellent . /span>

Points on the exterior worth mentioning

The chrome screen surround is pitted . /span>

Where the bonnet hinge sections are fixed  on the inner double skin  have been welded  and being particular picky " the curvature of the front bonnet line to where it butt's  to the front offside wing is slightly proud ( as said no great thing but worth pointing out " )

That is all I can see that requires a mention on the exterior.

Floorpan :

In excellent condition both floor sections . ills inner and outer

Interior :

The interior is highly presentable and whilst as mentioned above non original “ it is very comfortable “

Drive Train :

As mentioned above the engine was subject to major work . he invoice from Phoenix Rebore Ltd of Hereford engine rebuild specialist categorises the work carried out on both the head and the short motor . /span>

The car has only covered minimal mileage since the rebuild and still in a running in situation . lso as mentioned the carburettor upgrade will need further adjustment during the running in period .

Gearbox and final drive excellent .

Brakes :

Again major expenditure now working as they should !

Wheels /tyres

Both in excellent condition  .

Electrical :

At the time of writing  all working ( but please bear in mind it is Italian ! )

Conclusion :

The first generation of the spider is rare in this country and in my opinion the prettiest of all the 124 Spider variations .

Whilst not concourse it is highly presentable and definitely an appreciating asset “

The benefit of the RHD Conversion makes for much better ease of use and whilst the interior might not be to the purists taste . t can soon be rectified is so desired .

Many Thanks for your interest

All the very best of luck with your bid !

Regards

Dave

Please note: the cars I sell are “classic” cars and by nature and age are not of the reliability that is afforded to a modern car (apologies to the classic car enthusiasts for stating the obvious) but with all the best will in the world  whilst I would love then to stay totally reliable. but being old (like myself! )They can breakdown and you should be aware of this. if you have any doubt about classic car ownership or any of these facts kindly refrain from placing a bid on the car.

The car is as usual being sold with “No” Reserve !

Please Remember You Bid to Buy Not to Haggle.

Please note. The description of the vehicle is from my eyes and my opinion. I am only human ( I think” ) and could miss something that you might pick up so  you are warmly encouraged to view and inspect the car prior to bidding yourself . I will do my utmost to accommodate you. But once the auction has finished and if you are the winning bidder. you will be expected to conclude the transaction after being given this opportunity to inspect before the auction concludes. Please do not hesitate to call on : 07970383375  to arrange a viewing.

If the winning bidder is not UK Mainland based. it would be possible to deliver the car to a embarkation destination of their choice. once payment is received and the appropriate delivery tariffs have been met. it would be up to the winning bidder to organise the necessary on-going transportation and paperwork.

Please note! With two previous bidders who have had successful bids on other classics I have sold and have been European mainland based. they did not complete the sale quoting. they did not realise the logistics for transportation to the European mainland

Please. Please. Please!

If you are based on the European Mainland and you are going to bid on the car. please make sure you have the means to transport to the European mainland. also please make sure before you bid. that if you intend to road use the vehicle it can be registered in your country.

Seller's payment instructions

On successful bid. the winning bidder will contact the vendor by phone on 07970383375 or email within 24 hours of auction end. a deposit of £500 will be required within 48 hours of the auction.

Payment and collection within seven days (unless by prior arrangement )

The payment will be either Sterling. Bank transfer  or Cheque.

If paying by cheque the car will not be released until clearance of the cheque. all payments in sterling.

Delivery is available throughout the UK and to ports of embarkation only. this is via Wye Bridge Motors of Hereford they are experts in Classic Car Transportation and have a “bed off” transporter especially designed to take the lowest classic.

If you require a quote for terms and tariffs to your destination please do not hesitate to email or call me :07970383375

If you require additional pictures. please do not hesitate to email.

Now for the boring bits. I only sell good quality classic cars and describe the cars as accurately as I can and sell with honesty and integrity (please read my feedback) I have had on now 15! Occasions (two in the last three listings! ) individuals being the successful bidders on cars and not fulfilling the auction terms (no contact after placing the winning bid ) so wasting my time and stopping a genuine person getting the car. nbsp;

I am also sad to say had an individual who decided after winning the car thinking he could try and force me to sell the car for less intimating placing negative feedback!

I would be grateful if you have you are new to ebay or have feedback less the 10  you could call Me on: 07970383375 or email before you bid to confirm your intentions are bonafide .

Many thanks for your understanding.

Dave.
