1275cc original SA spec. engine 
The South African only 1275cc engine (cast and machined locally) was based on the Cooper S block with a standard bore of 70. 64mm and stroke of 81. 3mm. A change to the engine block meant the external oil pipe to the filter was done away with by using an internal gallery allowing the oil filter to be positioned on the top left hand side of the block.
