1968 Hurst Olds Convertible Clone

Engine: This car features a true Olds Rocket 455 cubic inch engine with correct "C" heads and a mild cam. The engine was completely torn down and professionally rebuilt with a new cam and lifters. Estimated compression is about 10. 5:1. so it runs on pump gas. but still has plenty of power. The engine has less than 8. 00 miles on it and runs strong. The heads were professionally ported by D & M performance. The oil used has always been Brad Penn Racing oil. since it has zinc to protect the cam and lifters.

Carb: The carb is "correct" for a 1968 Hurst Olds. and was professionally rebuilt by Cliff Ruggles. author of "How to rebuild Quadrajet Carburetor's". So yes. he literally wrote the book on it.

Transmission: The transmission is a reinforced TH-350 with a mild shift kit. The transmission was rebuilt and strengthened to handle the torque. The transmission is hooked up to a correct Hurst Dual-Gate shifter.

Suspension: Front and rear suspension were rebuilt with new poly-graphite bushings. Rear control arms were “boxed” with inserts and an anti-roll bar was added. Front end has all new bushings and ball joints. and an anti-roll bar. The rear suspension has adjustable air shocks.

Wheels: Wheels are true Oldsmobile 15” x 7” SSII wheels. painted the correct charcoal color for 1968. All spin true with no leaks. The 15” wheels are rare.

Tires: Tires are B. F. Goodrich Radial T/As. with plenty of tread left.

Rear-end: The rear-end is a true Olds 3. 08 Anti-Spin (“Posi-Traction”) Type O differential. with no noise or grinding.

Shifter: The floor shifter is a genuine Hurst “Dual Gate” shifter. correct for the 1968 Hurst Olds. It was professionally rebuilt by Hurst Corporation in 2008.

Interior: The interior has new carpet and newer seat covers. all correct for a 1968 Hurst/Old. The power top is new. and the rear window is clear and glass. Top goes right up with no problems. Carpet is new.

Exterior: The paint was new in 2009. and still looks pretty good. The colors are correct for the 1968 Hurst Olds (Peruvian Silver and Black). but there are a few chips and defects here and there. The rear bumper is a correct 442/Hurst Olds bumper with the rear exhaust cut-outs. and was re-chromed in 2007.

Car starts right up and runs great. Drive it anywhere.

The car is in Highland. IL and will be available for inspection until end of auction.   I did not do the restoration. it is mostly as I bought it and will provide any information and receipts that I have from the previous owner who has owned the car since 1998. We have had the car for over a year and been very pleased with it. selling only to help pay for daughters wedding. Please ask questions and make arrangements to inspect car before bidding. this is a binding contract. The reserve was set for $10000. 00 as a absolute minimum safety net and should sell for much more. and will sell to the highest bidder.

This car originally had air conditioning but it was taken out by the previous owner. I still have all of the air conditioning parts that came off of the car if the new owner wants to reinstall them. I had planned on doing this but never got around to it.
