Technical specifications, photos and description:
After buying the car from new. the previous owner had John Cooper Works do a special and quite rare conversion. The John Cooper "Big Bore S" conversion was number 14 of the "1400 S" upgrades that they did. On top of this he had them add the Jack Knight 5 Speed straight cut gearbox. I have a certificate signed by John Cooper himself to prove the 1400s conversion is genuine. although some of the spec has changed slightly over the years for practical reasons. I swapped the twin 1. 5inch SUs for a single 1. 75inch one. and a less hairy camshaft when the engine was last rebuilt (the Kent 286 cam that was in there was very lumpy unless you were reving it hard).
Since owning the car for the last 10 years. I have had the bodywork restored. the engine and gearbox re-built. and various upgrades such as KAD 4 pot brake callipers. genuine 6 inch Minilite wheels. fully adjustable suspension. leather seats etc. It has always been kept in a garage. never left outside overnight (apart from the few times we took it camping and to Mini shows).
The engine is really good. pulls strongly. doesn't smoke or overheat. but it was rebuilt just over 6k miles ago so should it be good !
I have folders full of paperwork from when the car was new. and since I have owned it. So full history. although over the last few years I have done most of the service items myself (oil. filters. lubrication etc) but due to the low mileage use this was done every year it was in use rather than based on mileage. As I am selling it I had a full and comprehensive service done by a Mini specialist garage at the end of last year. Since then I have only driven it a few time. just to keep the cobwebs off.
Here are the general specs:
1991 Rover Cooper. owned by me since 2003 and 1 owner prior to that. 64. 00 original miles
