1972 MK3 FORD CORTINA 2 DOOR 1600 L CROSSFLOW

Welcome to my auction for a 1972 Ford Cortina MK 3 2-Door 1600 L Crossflow. I purchased this car from Finland late last year. Flew out and personally drove it back through 8 countries. The trip of approx 1596 miles was completed in 40 hours without incident. and must i add. the car used absolutely NO oil or Water the entire journey!! Which. for a 43/44 year old car is pretty damn impressive!!Upon return. the logbook and re-registration were applied for. And the only things it needed were new brake pads on the front and new wheel cylinders at the back. And as a matter of coarse. both front brake calipers were overhauled. as well as an oil and filter change and a set of plugs. And also head light units exchanged for LHD (RHD units included). As far as i'm aware. apart from the paintwork being freshened up. this car is totally original. This interior is almost immaculate. engine bay is all original and untouched. underside is solid and needs nothing.
The guy and his sister from whom i bought it from said that they inherited it from an elderly family member who had it from a few years old and always kept it garaged. and it really does show. And the fact that they don't salt the roads out in the arctic circle means that the classics stand the test of time. Although i have no proof to back up the very low mileage of 78. 00 KM (48778 miles) i really don't have any doubts at all that it isn't genuine.
It also has some extra's that seem to be exclusive to its foreign market such as Factory fitted front wheel arch liners. metal under tray. and cylinder block heater. All fitted as snow deflectors and cold deterants.

Oil Beautifully Clean on the dip

All Electrics work perfectly
Bad Points: Drivers seat recline mechanism is faulty but it still tilts for passengers to get in and out. and it is in a comfortable position.

Rear Bumper has a dent in it.

All in all this is an Awesome car that commands A LOT of a attention wherever it goes and a truly affordable investment. whatever you pay for this you will never lose on it. And despite it being Left Hand Drive. don't let this put you off because lets face it. where are you going to find a mk 3 2-Door cortina that HASN'T been restored. and DOESN'T Need restoring for lesser value. So for the sake of getting used to driving a left hooker for a few hours completely outways the difference in price you'd pay for a RHD by miles. And you've got something a bit different.
