Sadly selling our beautiful Morris Traveller. It is a trafficator model. unfortunately these aren't currently working. I bought it off a colleague earlier this year. prior to that it had sat in a garage unused for nearly six years. Once we'd dragged it out. it had a light recommission and was sent for an MOT. it only needed some replacement brake cylinders and it passed. It has had some welding work done in the distant past and was undersealed. so it is still remarkably solid. It runs and drives really well. it has recently had a new thermostat and fan too.
The previous owner had a freshly rebuilt 1275 A-series engine from a Morris Ital fitted about five years ago. it had still covered less than 1000 miles since being professionally rebuilt by Jonspeed. a reputable garage that specialise in Minis. It starts first time and makes a fantastic sound thanks to a nearly new full stainless steel exhaust. It gets up to temperature nice and quickly and drives great for an old car.
The photos are a little flattering. it does come up well with a polish but this car is original and unrestored so it does have great patina. areas where the paint had worn through etc. it looks fantastic in my opinion.
The car is fitted with a very rare set of alloys. a sort of deep-dish minilite type wheel with a chrome finish. I'm told they are called Cosmics. I don't know any more than that! They have a bit of lacquer peel here and there but are in good nick with excellent tyres all round. The car is also sporting a very nice wooden Mota-lita steering wheel. I will also include a period radio.
I have recently fitted all new door seals but the interior does need some work as the seats have seen better days. The headlining has been removed as it was torn. however I will include in the sale a full cream leather headlining that I bought from ESM recently (not cheap!). as well as some leather hides that I was going to use to trim the seats and door cards.
The wood is original so has had some running repairs over the years. the offside rear post has some filler in there as does the nearside front post. This seemed fairly solid when I got the car but through usage it seems to have flexed and split the wood at the top and bottom (just the nearside front post).
The car is tax exempt and you can insure it for less than £100. It has so much character and I just want to find it a good home.
Collection from New Arley near Nuneaton.
