Solid and Straight Land Cruiser

True Blue Land Cruiser

Gorgeous Colorado Blue with two-tone gray interior. Purchased new in Alabama. where it has remained its entire life. Super straight body. u> unrusted. clean and dent free underneath. All power and convenience options including power windows. locks. antenna with factory original radio/cassette. rear window defrost. intermittent wipers front and rear. factory chrome wheels. factory tow hitch plate. Car comes with original books. manuals. window sticker. records. tools. jack. bag. and brand new spare.

Car runs. shifts. handles and drives fantastically. I just had an exhaustive service done at the Toyota dealership (where half the service techs came over to enthusiastically greet the car) some of which is detailed below. Over $6. 00 of recent work was done to ensure utmost reliability and roadworthiness.

It has been superbly maintained. never abused. Shows as well underneath as on top. is clean and straight throughout.

Engine. Transmission:

Car starts instantly. holds perfect idle and oil pressure. Had injectors cleaned (as a preventive) plus complete tune up: plugs. plug wires. distributor cap. rotor. fluids. new K&N air filter.

Transmission serviced. adjusted. shifts smoothly. passing ‘kickdown' works great. Four wheel drive system was checked and serviced. working fine. The dealership was instructed to completely clean the engine and fix any leaks. Rear main seal replaced. plus valve cover and various hoses and clamps. No drips or leaks underneath and engine compartment is clean and tidy.

Brakes. Suspension. Steering:

Brakes serviced and work great. stop true without drama. Suspension is excellent. Front suspension and steering just serviced at Toyota. plus full alignment. Power steering is excellent. no whine. grind. or leaks. Recent tires are mounted on factory chrome wheels. also in excellent condition.  The brand-new. unused spare is mounted in a perfectly clean. repainted tire well.

Exterior:

This Land Cruiser is remarkably straight. with no rust or accident damage known. When I got it. there was a ding in the tailgate and the hood paint had faded. I had both professionally painted in perfectly matched paint. At the time. I had the shop completely detail and polish the exterior which looks excellent. The windshield had some sand pits and wiper marks. so I had it replaced. plus new gasket. Looks great. seals perfectly.

The front chrome bumper was excellent. but rear was very clouded (saved it) and replaced it with a new one from Cool Cruisers. At the time. I removed the trailer hitch. cleaned and repainted it. saved with other parts. All trim pieces were removed from the car. and either replaced or repainted to look new. There is a scratch in the rear glass (couldn't get it to show in pictures) and a dent on the right rear. just above bumper that is 2 ¼” wide (visible in one of the photos). Since this is 75% original paint. there are a few nicks and pips as expected.

Interior:

The original two-tone gray interior was completely removed for cleaning. All seating. carpet. door panels and trim were professionally cleaned and Scotch guarded. I had the floor boards and door panels ‘Dyna matted' to reduce sound (this made a huge difference!) Brand new 5 piece carpet mats from Lloyds including cargo area finish off this excellent interior.

Factory radio. speakers (which work fine) are in original locations. no cutting. Door panels. headliner. console. trim are excellent as is the uncracked dashboard. The driver's seat has ‘entry wear' at the bottom of the seat bolster. All other seats. upholstery and weatherstripping  are excellent.

Electronics. accessories:

All power accessories work great.  Power window tracks were completely cleaned and lubed to restore squeak-free operation and speed. Power antenna and radio work great. but radio ‘pre set' selector has a mind of its own. Sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't. Factory air conditioning is ice-cold. all fan speeds work. Interior lights. dash lights. gauges. clock all work fine. The ‘child lock' for the power windows is missing its button. Rear wiper works great. but intermittent does not. I purchased a new switch for this but haven't yet installed.

 Extras. accessories:

This Land Cruiser comes with the original bill of sale. original window sticker. owner's manual. manual pouch. original jack. tools. plus OEM trailer hitch and ball. and many records.

Overall. Driving:

Starts first twist of the key. idles smoothly. pulls well with the torquey 4. 0 inline 6. Holds full oil pressure. no smoke. just sound and strong.

All upshifts and downshifts are great. No smoking. weird noises. nothing. Just typical Toyota reliability. Steering is typically 4WD ‘vague' but fully operable and has a super tight turning circle. making this one of the most maneuverable SUVs around. It is rattle free. leak free. and supremely tight.

This is basically an everyday use vehicle that is perfectly fine in 70-75mph traffic as it is negotiating around town. It gets many “thumbs up” and is sure to increase in value as many more Land Cruisers are hitting the collector car show and auction scene. It is clean inside. outside. underneath. and in the engine compartment. It is ready to serve the next owner for many more reliable years and I believe is money-in-the-bank. drivable investment.
