This is a 1949 Kaiser Traveler. I bought it from a guy that started a frame off restoration on it. It has all of the drive-train rebuilt and working like new. The engine runs smooth as a watch. The brakes are new. the clutch is new. the radiator has been serviced. the water pump is new. the generator is rebuilt. the carburetor is rebuilt. the fuel pump is new. the gas tank has been cleaned out as well as the fuel lines. It runs and drives reliably as it sits. It is ready for the cosmetic restoration. It has new windshield with a new gasket as well as the rear window installed with a new gasket. It still needs the side glass done and the originals are there for a pattern. There are gobs of parts in the back of the car and there are many duplicates to choose from. I haven't inventoried everything. but I don't see much missing. I did find 4 parts cars at a yard in Casa Grande that should provide anything for these cars. I imagine if you are looking at this ad. you probably know what the Traveler is. I think they are just cool as can be. The back end opens up like a cross between a pickup and a hatchback. I have seen these with tent kits that clamp on for camping. The old timers tell me you can fit 4 bales of hay in the back with the seat down or two with the seat up. This is one of those 50's dream ideas that might have caught on until the next best came along. The car has no rust on it. The body is fairly straight but it does have a couple of how did that happen scrapes. It has never been repainted so there are no surprises to be found. The Traveler was the low option model so there is not a lot of trim to go on it. They had the Vagabond that had the bling. I find this to be just an honest car. I like it for what it is and what it was designed to be. I imagine at a car show. you had best be prepared to discuss and demonstrate all day. This was supposed to be a utilitarian vehicle. I see just plain heavy duty vinyl on the seats and keep the rubber mat. even picking a color would be a tough choice as I like the fifties colors. but I think this should be a muted color like they had in the forties. I guess the hardest thing to do is pick a theme and stick to it. I have waay too many cars. I finally realized I'm not going to restore them all. This car has had thousands of dollars spent on the chassis and drive-train and I think the easy part is left. Plus it is much more fun when you can drive it while you fix it. this literally could go to Maaco and then seat cover King if you wanted. Not everything needs to be a 100 point show car. This is a unique collector car for the budget minded. I'm selling at no reserve with a modest starting price.
