This car is my daughters' and she has owned it for about 5 years. It was used fairly regularly initially but in the last couple of years has covered less than 50 miles!
Mk 1 BGTs are becoming scarce & this is a particularly tidy example
It was registered in October 1966 by an ICI engineer who used it to commute from Blackpool & Dumfries on business trips. The then manager of MG John Thornley dubbed the BGT as the business man's express & this one certainly lived up to that!
It comes with virtually every factory extra;
Wire wheels --- all in excellent order
Overdrive
Webasto sun roof
Oil Cooler
Motorola radio… still fitted but with an updated item fitted in the cubby box!
Ace type period number plates.
The car had leather seats as standard & these are in good order & a genuine Moto Lita wood rim steering wheel is fitted.
The body is finished in Old English White & some repainting has been done in recent years.
There is a fully detailed history with the car which notes that a Ron Hopkinson reconditioned lead free engine was fitted some years ago. For an MGB this is a very quiet engine & when switched off does not run on!
There is also a photo log showing pics of restoration work some years ago when new wings etc were fitted. It has had new sills
The car was MOTd this month with no advisories.
Only 7 owners since new!
The car is not perfect. Slight pitting on the original chrome bumpers. the original rubber floor mats are looking tired after 50 years & there is a minor bubble under the paint on one door & on the tailgate.
Early GTs are increasing in value & this is an opportunity to purchase a decent car at a reasonable price which can be enjoyed & further improved.
The only club for these cars is the MG Car Club & if the new owner is not already a member we will include a year's membership on purchase.
