The highly esteemed Lotus Esprit S2      Designed with speed and style in mind by the influential designer Giorgetto Giugiaro of the Italian design house Italdesign. It is rumored that the design was completed in one hour on a piece of scrap paper supplied by non other than Colin Chapman. founder of Lotus Cars. This car and its stablemate The Maserati Boomerang created the "folded paper" automobile design.
The Lotus Esprit S2 has the racing capabilities you require and the nostalgic body style you desire! The S2 is especially desirable because of it's short run and many mechanical. design. and comfort improvements over the original S1 car. The Esprit was conceived with successful in-house racing technology. sporting a bonded fiberglass body and a true backbone chassis. True to the Lotus company's strive for perfection. it was built by old world craftsmen in Norwich. England. Never before was the "add lightness" theory more beautifully executed.      The interior of this car is just as sleek and design-oriented as the exterior. with it's jet fighter style instrument pod and semi-reclined leather seating. Despite the car's stature. there is plenty of leg room for maximum comfort in the Esprit S2. This Esprit features an original black full leather interior with Sheep skin covers.
The original engine was rebuilt to 2. 2 liter Euro spec and pulls strong throughout the RPM range. Dellorto carbs with the correct airbox complete the package. This car has all the modifications anyone wishing to "drive" an early Esprit would want. The Citroen SM trans-axle shifts smooth as silk and makes no noise in the final drive. The original cast exhaust manifold and Y pipe remain intact with no rust or cracks in the casting.
The body has been converted to Euro spec including solid front and rear bumpers. rear tail spoiler delete panel. rear lamp and license frame extensions.
Originally a California car. our car includes Air Conditioning that still blows cold!
A workshop manual. owners manual and support documents are included in the sale.
A comprehensive vehicle file including the past owners support the cars well cared for past. It is interesting to know that this car was one of 14 cars imported in 1980. The T in the serial number proves its California heritage. A very original car. Even the sound system is period correct!
Originally a white car the S2 was painted Maserati Cinnabar Red 8917 to match another high performance car one of the owners had. There is no evidence of bodywork. We have the original ebay listing that shows the car in the original white finish.
Sadly the Jack kit and tool kit have gone missing.
When introduced in 1980 this little beauty could drive circles around Supercars with engines twice as large!
