1955 Buick Special

Buick's 1955 restyling produced a leaner. meaner look than the previous year's design.   Many styling cues from the Dream Cars (concept cars) were used on the Buick including the vents on the side of the fenders. the Dagmar bumpers. wrap around windows and other styling cues.

While the Buicks were a full size car of the 1950s they were also performers and would do 0-60 in something over nine seconds with a top speed of just under 110 mph.   Yes. in 1955 the Buick was quick enough to give Buick two stock car racing wins.   There are many car collectors that consider the 1955 Buick one of Harley Earl's best designs.

The 1955 Buick in this eBay listing is very unusual in so far as it is not a 2-door hardtop but a 2-door sedan.   The roofline on the  2-door sedan gives this model Buick a totally unique look and we know some collectors that prefer the look of the  2-door sedan over the 2-door hardtop.   The car in this listing has been owned by an elderly collector. who has given it tons of loving care. but for some very personal reasons has sadly decided to let it go to a new home.   It is always a good sign when the current owner has owned the car for a long time and in this case for over 20 years!  Just to make things interesting the car does have its original interior and was repainted in 2013 and around the same time the chrome plating was done.   Several years ago the engine was rebuilt and while the tires look like new they were put on in 1994.

Here at MissChiTown we just love the overall stance of this 2-door sedan!  We get it…the color scheme on this car is typical mid 1950s and it is a perfect match to the overall design of the car and the era.  

For long tours and comfortable drives there is nothing like a Buick because of the coil springs and the DynaFlow transmission – it is just so smooth.   As we mentioned previously these Buicks have plenty of get up and go with the zero to sixty in something over nine seconds. yes that was extremely fast for its day when most cars had zero to sixty between twelve and thirteen and a half seconds.

If you are looking for a collector car that you would be proud to take to any car show and one that also makes the most wonderful touring car you can imagine then you should take a good look at this Buick.   It has lived its life in loving care and the current owner hopes that the new owner will appreciate the car like he has and give it the same TLC!
