1992 Ford Fiesta XR2i 1.8 - J plate - Garage find - SORN/Stored for 11yrs

I have recently aquired this 1992 Ford Fiesta XR2i 1. 8 16v from a man in the same town as me who gave up driving it.

This is a later model which came with the 1. 8 Zetec engine (105ps) and the RS Turbo body kit and seats.

The car is original. as supplied from the factory.

This is a J plate car. registered on 08. 05. 1992.

The guy I purchased it from bought the car on 18. 09. 1993 from MJA car sales. It still has their name on the numberplates!

This is a project. The car was stopped being used on 01. 11. 2005. It has sat in the previous keepers garage ever since.

There is a lot of paperwork history with the car including the bill of sale and old MOTs plus loads of service history right up to the point where it was laid up. It was driven into the garage.

Amazingly the tyres have held and the brakes are free enough for the car to be towed. The clutch pedal feels ok.

I have fitted a new battery and the engine turns over freely although as to be expected it wont start.

It has had a replacment fuel pump. new plugs and a new fuel filter. It turns over well but wont fire.

I have the current new style V5 document with it and the old style V5 too. There is a big file of documents and both keys.

Overall condition is ok considering the age. mileage and fact that its been laid up.

Obviously the paintwork needs some love but in terms of rust its not too bad. There is a patch of surface rust on the bootlid and its gone a bit around the fuel cap area. There are a fair fews scuffs. scrapes and parking dents around but it'll need a trip to the body shop as part of the restoration anyway.

The scuttle area underneath the windscreen looks to be in remarkably good condition.

Underneath it looks ok. surface rust in places but nothing looks terminal although I havent had it on a ramp. Remember it was dry stored so this will have helped.

The interior is in good order throughout but will of course need a full clean. It has the original stereo etc.

I am listing the car as it is as a spares or repair restoration project. This is because I have a few projects on the go already and am happy for it to be taken on by someone else. If however it doesnt sell on here then I will carry out the work myself once my existing projects are complete.

Please understand that you are bidding/buying a non runner project. The car will NOT drive you home. Collection with a trailer or at least a tow rope!
