The original owner waited nearly two years upon order and had the vehicle personally commissioned per his requests.  Upon taking delivery. he rarely drove it as he felt it was too nice to be driven.  The second owner purchased the vehicle and added even more upgrades including: aluminum wheels from Vintage. DTM fan shroud from Raby. Dario valve covers. HyFire ignition. improved shifter. and cable throttle (no hex linkages).  The third owner purchased the vehicle out of Chicago with 1. 00 miles in April of 2013 and only drove the vehicle 218 miles.  The most recent owner made more upgrades such as fuel pump kill switch. carb rebuild. upgraded rear control arm assemblies. and Lokar release/latch assemblies for rear clam.  This vehicle is all aluminum with a Porsche Silver painted fiberglass skin.  All the aluminum work was properly completed by Mr. Greg Bates in California who has restored several of Jerry Seinfeld's real 550s and RSKs.  Mr. Bates. has expert knowledge of the Porsche Spyders and is a master metal fabricator.  It took him over two years to fabricate all the aluminum work to make each panel as close to or exactly as the original Spyders.  The chassis and body are from Vintage Spyders.   ALUMINIUM - Aluminum parts include the firewall. floor. rocker panels. door skins. door panel. original style fuel tank. front compartment. Rennsport mirror housing. Rennsport vented fender doors (they open). rear bonnet support panels. hood skin. and removable headrest.  Nearly everything is aluminum except the outside painted body. which is fiberglass.  ENGINE - The 2. 7 liter. (2755cc) 190hp. T-4 Porsche 914 engine is ported and polished with 44mm Weber IDF carburetors built by FAT Performance in Southern California.  For cooling the torquey little motor. it has a DTM fan shroud from Raby (The DTM provides much more stable average head temperatures across all 4 cylinders compared to stock while also giving a lower average temperature) with a Mercedes Benz oil cooler.  The valve covers are original style (Dario) Porsche scripted with a GT style jet coated exhaust.  It has a HyFire ignition and cable throttle with no hex linkages.  TRANSMISSION - The transmission is a fresh rebuilt Porsche 914 5–speed with a new GT limited slip built by TransWest and his since been driven 216 miles and was improved by the second owner.  The seats are high-grade tan leather with a matching headrest pad attached to a removable aluminum headrest shroud.  The center mirror is a convex Raydot and the fender mirror is an aluminum Rennsport mirror with the correct Model-A mirror lens.  Improved shifter.  SUSPENSION - The suspension is original 550 style torsion bar frontend with adjustable Koni racing shocks.  Holding up the rear wheels are fully adjustable Bilstein coilovers.  Wide bolt. quality German disk brakes are fitted on all four corners.  This Spyder rides as great as it looks.  It's smooth over little bumps but still firm and flat in the hard corners.  WHEELS – All aluminum wheels from Vintage
You can remove the aluminum tonneau cover in a few minutes with two small bolts like an original. You can use either the long windscreen. if you have passengers. or a short (driver only) windscreen to give the car a real vintage race car look available from Vintage Spyder. It also has an original style hand brake that works great.    It is currently registered as a 1955 Porsche on a Indiana title. It has a mere 2. xx miles and has never been raced or driven hard. It still looks brand new… well. because it is brand new. We have installed a new battery. changed the oil and filter. and completed a full inspection. Vehicle comes with copies of some of the original build receipts and an Porsche Spyder Driver's manual. Vehicle has been well kept. but we have hand washed the vehicle and detailed the interior. exterior. and engine.     We are confident it is one of the finest examples of a Porsche 550 Spyder replica available on the open market. The aluminum work alone would cost upwards of $35k+ and you would have to beg someone to do it as it took over two years for this project to be completed. This could be one of the most 'expensive' 550 replicas as it had over $120k when originally completed and the second owner put quite a bit more money into the vehicle completing additional upgrades. If you are in the market for a 550 Spyder or wish to own a vintage vehicle that has been meticulously and period built above all others. then this is the vehicle for you.  The 550 Spyder comes with:    Driver's-side short windscreen (not installed). Poster boards with details on car (for car shows). 2 Original Porsche Spyder Owner's Manuals. Hefty Folder with Original Build Documents. and Pictures.  Please consider this an invitation to visit Gator Motorsport!
