1970 Dodge Challenger T/A for sale
Current customer rating: (148 votes ) based ondodge . nbsp; trans am challenger T/A. nbsp;
this car has been garage kept . almost it's entire life .
originally this was used as a quarter mile race car.
I have been restoring it a little at a time. over the years.
the body had a small dogleg repair about 20 years ago with new metal . not putty.
and the front left fender had a dent . that was repaired.
the rest was all good . the underneath is as good as the top of the car.
I had it painted about 10 years ago . I have 2 sets of stickers. a new manufactured set . and a original set from the 70's
the paint is ok . but not perfect . has flaws. the car got to valuable . nbsp;I didn't put the stickers on . incase it was going to be repainted again.
the engine a original T/A 340 has the ta casting on the side of the motor. it is in the picture.
the carbs are original . but bowls have been replaced.
the motor doesn't have a mile on it since the last rebuild. but it was built for quarter mile racing . higher compression .
I have the original bell housing . but the one on the car. is a Lakewood shatterproof . for racing . the engine is powerful you don't want to loose a leg.
flywheel. clutch . pressure plate . all new.
transmission like new. but has a hemi 18 spline . upgrade. the original . long gone.
the exhaust . gas tank . have been replaced.
bumpers are original and have a dent .
interior . dashboard has a big crack . but the id plate is attached to it so I never changed it .
new carpeting . ew front seat covers from legendary .
brakes and suspension original .
the car sits for a year at a time . and the carbs dry out . so it is fickly to start. and I do not drive this car.
the last time was in 89.
build sheet found in the right pass seat . is in the pics
the back windows still have the original scat pack decals .
there are some trim pieces. around the rear window . there not installed but I have them.
front valance lenses . they are not installed . but I have replacements from year one in the trunk. with other miscellaneous parts.
tires are used Goodyear polyglass E60 15 in the front and G 60 15 in the rear from the 70's. that is what T/A 's came with stock.
and the rear had a lift for the exhaust to come out the sides. the antenna was moved to the rear of the car. all factory ONLY for the T/A'S AND AAR CUDA'S.
the blocks were cast with a stronger metal and marked with a T/A ON THE SIDES . pecial cast heads the rocker arms were offset to allow for porting. but I don't think this engine was ported. and the factory didn't port them.
there were only around 5000 of those engines made . and 2399 T/A's. I forget how many 4 speed with the pistol grip shifter
I don't know if the engine was ever bored to a larger size.
the engine is numbers matching. and there is a pic with the T/A on the casting .
the hood is original.
the engine compartment . that is just about what they looked like from dodge.
factory cast headers. correct wire hangers and placement . battery cables. hoses Chrysler marked . corbin clamps .
and the engine it painted correctly . the blocks came red. and the valve covers and air cleaner were hemi orange.
it has the correct 1970 pvc valve . and a replica dodge battery .
electronic installed but I have the original duel point ignition.
