Mustang Coupe. 260 V8 auto

One of the first Mustangs produced. known as the '64. 5' with a build date of June 22nd 1964. just two months into production.
I imported this car last year from the US and it was White with a Blue stripe. decoding the door tag. it showed the car was originally Skylight Blue which was a one year only colour on the 64. 5 Mustang. The car needed paint and interior so I decided to go back to the original colours as it left the factory.
The car was stripped for paint and there was very little evidence of rust. even the original floors which are notorious for rust were in great condition. any loose underseal was scrapped off and the underside of the floorpans were painted over with a light coat of Stoneguard protective coating.
The original windscreen had several small chips so was replaced. all other glass is original and in great condition. screen rubbers have been replaced along with the window felts and door/boot seals.
The engine and gearbox were removed so that the engine bay could cleaned and repainted. the engine had new upper gaskets replaced. The gearbox had the front oil seal replaced. I'm led to believe by the previous owner that the engine is original to the car. the date on the 5 bolt block and intake is C4 which is the code for 1964. The gearbox code also shows as 1964.  The car is fitted with front disc brakes and power steering.
All new interior including carpet. door cards and armrests. seat covers. windlace. sun visors. headliner and new heater core.
The car has the usual '64. 5' variations which distinguish it from a '65' model.
Most of the exterior brightwork has been renewed where needed.
Many of the original fittings internally and externally have been retained where possible.
New 17" x 7" Torque Thrust II wheels and new tyres have been fitted. I do have a set of original steels with white wall tyres and original hubcaps that can be supplied if required.
This is a very straight car and a pleasure to drive. Not the cheapest out there but definitely one of the best. rare early examples.
Unusually for an Classic American import there is a folder with lots of invoices including engine rebuild.
