Rolls-Royce Motors formed Mulliner Park Ward by the 1961 merger
of two of Rolls-Royce subsidiaries: Park Ward of Willesden and H.
J. Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick. Mulliner Park Ward continues to
operate as the vehicle customisation division of Bentley Motors
Limited. the successor of Rolls-Royce Motors. The Corniche was a
development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with the two door
variants of that model marketed as the 'Silver Shadow Mulliner Park
Ward' two-door fixedhead coupé; the very handsome coachwork
designed by John Polwhele Blatchley. The model was assembled and
finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as continuation of the
1965 Silver Shadow Coupé; the Corniche name was subsequently
applied from 1971 for all two-door coupés. It used the standard
Rolls-Royce 6750cc engine with an aluminium-silicon alloy block and
aluminium cylinder heads with cast iron wet cylinder liners mated
to a three-speed automatic transmission from General Motors.

The history accompanying this very distinctive example is
impressive; not only does it present in excellent condition
throughout but it believed to represent a pre-production model that
was used by the factory to test various mechanical components back
in the late 60's and thus carries some distinct difference to the
standered car such as sharper front windscreen corners. The recent
service log runs from 2007 to 2014 and is comprehensive as has been
recognised by Classic Cars magazine that ran a seven-page feature
in August 2009. Also contained within the extensive history file
are the build sheets which note that air-conditioning. seatbelts
all round and an eight-piece luggage set were specified (amongst
others). The 73. 94 mileage reading is thought to be correct and
supported by the history file; also enclosed is an MoT test
certificate valid until August this year. Finished in Regal Red
with a grey leather interior and swathes of walnut. this rare and
supremely elegant motorcar is competitively priced and very well
presented.
