The W123 Series surpassed the W114 model range as the most
successful Mercedes-Benz ever. selling 2. 7 million cars between
1975 and 1986. Models included four-door saloons. coupés and. for
the first time. estates.

The coupé. featuring a shorter wheelbase than the standard
saloon. was introduced in Spring 1976. Electronic fuel injected
engines were introduced in 1980 making the cars faster and
more reliable with all cars fitted with power steering from 1982.
Build quality set new standards at the time in its class and the
W123 compounded the reputation of Mercedes-Benz for engineering
advancement and design. The coupés were sleek and elegant with many
high profile personalities choosing to own one. In the UK. prices
were high but this did not prevent the range. in all forms. from
being extremely successful.

C286 BYF was purchased by Dr. Flint of Petworth in Sussex from
Puttocks Ltd. Mercedes-Benz. Guildford for £15. 95 in February 1987
when the car was 18 months old. He has since used the car sparingly
for 29 years. the V5 showing a single owner before him. Age and
illness has cause Dr. Flint to now retire from driving but the car
reflects great care whilst in his tenure with Puttocks
Ltd/Charterhouse being the service agents ever since. The
specialist mechanic from Puttocks having continued to look after
the car throughout Dr. Flint's ownership to this day.

Finished in Pajett Red with light brown cloth. the car was
specified with a four-speed automatic gearbox. centre armrest. br/>electric windows and mirror. electric sliding sunroof. alloy wheels
and luggage nets for the backs of the front seats. The car presents
beautifully with good lustre to the paintwork and blemish free
chromework. Inside. the headlining looks virtually perfect and the
seats are showing no meaningful signs of wear or use. not even the
drivers upright bolster which commonly suffers. The low mileage is
supported by the 22 stamped entries in the original service book
and the condition of the car is reflective of its gentle ownership.
The original toolkit remains within its cloth wrap. warning
triangle and first-aid kit are also present and correct. A very
attractive example of one of the most elegant and refined W123's of
the period and complete with a fresh MoT test certificate.
