Since its introduction in 1963. the 911 has undergone continual
development although the basic concept has remained little changed.
In 1973. the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356 Carrera
which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories in the
Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950's. The RS was
built so that Porsche could enter racing formulae which demanded
that a certain minimum number of production cars were made. The
most notable advances in 1984 were the introduction of the
3. 2-litre engine. With 231bhp on tap. the new 'boxer' motor endowed
the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the
original 911 Turbo of 1974; the bald statistics being a 0-60mph
time of 5. 3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. The 3. 2 Carrera. br/>produced from 1984 to 1989. is regarded by many as the best of the
air-cooled models thanks to its blend of classic good looks. br/>scintillating performance and relatively low cost of ownership -
all subsequent models being more complex machines that need deeper
pockets to maintain.

Supplied by Charles Follet Ltd in October 1984. this Porsche 911
presents in superb condition having recently been restored to a
very high standard taking just over two years to complete. During
the restoration. the brakes were completely overhauled with new
discs (front and rear) callipers overhauled and new brake pads. The
interior was stripped and re-trimmed in blue leather including the
dashtop. During the restoration. the body was sent to Peter Light. br/>a Porsche specialist in Potters Bar. The panels were removed from
the car and checked for any corrosion. A fabulous paint finish was
applied in the original colour of Porsche Grand Prix white and a
new mohair hood was fitted by Allhoods of Romford. The car is now
fitted with the correct Fuchs alloys. The fastidious vendor has
painstakingly traced the service history and it appears the car was
serviced by Porsche main dealers until May 2000 (40. 20 miles) and
subsequently by marque specialists. Supplied with a V5C
registration document and a current MoT test certificate. this 911
Carrera 3. 2 Cabriolet is a car that has to be viewed to be fully
appreciated.
