1977 Jaguar XJ 12 C for sale
Current customer rating: (218 votes ) based onThe first Jaguar XJ was launched in 1968 and the XJ designation
has been used for successive Jaguar flagship models ever since. The
original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of
Sir William Lyons. the company's founder. After the series 1 and 2. br/>a relatively short run of two door XJ coupés with a pillarless
hardtop body called the XJ-C was built between 1975 and 1978. The
car was actually launched at the London Motor Show in October 1973. br/>but it subsequently became clear that it was not ready for
production and the economic troubles unfolding in the western world
at this time seem to have reduced further any sense of urgency
about producing and selling the cars. They finally started to
emerge from Jaguar showrooms only some two years later. These
were priced higher than the four-door car so immediately were
relatively exclusive. The profile of these sought after touring
cars was so attractive. with windows down. that they are often hard
to find in good condition.
Manufactured on 25th June 1977 and registered in September 1977
this has to be described as one of the very best examples of an XJ
C we have ever seen. Beautifully finished in Squadron blue with
original dark blue leather interior. the coachwork combined with
the chrome is extremely pleasing to the eye and it is clear to see
this car was cherished by its previous owner since 1990. The
history file is impressive documenting restoration work by Priory
Place Automotive Limited and Nigel Cooper Coachwork Restoration
whilst the majority of servicing and maintenance was carried out by
A K Walters and Jag Shop London all of which combine to offer a
very reassuring service history. Offered with a production record
trace certificate and Jaguar Driver's Club Valuation Certificates
with an MoT test certificates showing no advisories valid until
September 2016. this is a rare opportunity to own a very sought
after Jaguar in impressive condition.
