Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.1) based on 275 votes
For sale is my 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo (U. S. car imported to Canada in 90's) with approximately 136. 00 miles on the odometer.   I still consistently drive the car so mileage will be slightly higher than at the time of this posting.   I have never pushed the car while cold and always allowed the car to cool for 1-2 mins after driving.   When warm. I have driven the car hard enough (not on every drive!) to keep everything (such as injectors) clean and functional.   The horn is not currently hooked up to the momo wheel and to function will either:  a) require a new switch housing for a non airbag wheel    b) installation of the original wheel which is sold with the car.   All service was performed at Autoselect in Newmarket and I have all receipts plus original Porsche manuals & both keys.

Modifications:

-          Rogue A-tune chip (revised timing & fuel mappings. well known mod for 944's)

-          Manual boost controller (currently running at 15-16 psi = 1 bar)

-          Widefire head gasket (thicker seals compared to stock.   Used on 951 cup cars)

-          Koni yellow dampers (As found on 944 Turbo S models)

-          MOMO Steering wheel

-          Manual sunroof release mechanism (electric version is prone to breaking and costly to replace)

-          French yellow fog lights

-          Turbo twist 18” rims

-          Aftermarket boost gauge in interior

-          Custom cut aftermarket rubber mats

-          Aftermarket radio unit and speakers (no silly subwoofer. just improved front door speakers)

Exterior

-          Paint still shines and is in good condition

-          No rust

-          Stone chips on front panel

-          Roof area around the sunroof is scratched (through the clear coat)

Interior

-          Small cracks in dashboard

-          Some rips in leather

-          A/C is functional but has a leak and currently is not charged (uses R12)

-          Passenger side window is a little slow

Mechanical (I have all receipts for work performed during my ownership)

-          Turbo replaced at 135. 12mi with lightly used K26/6 (old one sucked in a piece of the cracked exhaust manifold and jammed.   Exhaust manifold was completely welded up)

-          Oil last changed at 135. 12 mi (non synthetic 20W50 Total)

-          Brake pads last changed around 132. 00 mi

-          AC compressor changed at 132. 50 mi (Old one seized)

-          Fuel injectors professionally cleaned. new spark plugs. new plug wiring. new distributor cap and rotor. and new fuel filter at 135. 12 mi

-          Full wheel alignment at 132. 50 mi

-          New water pump and timing belt at 131. 61 mi

-          Timing belt tensioned at 132 850mi

-          Sumitomo summer tyres with lots of tread left

-          Replaced DME relay with 993 version (well known failure point. done as preventative measure)

-          Original fuel lines have been replaced (if old ones fail due to age it can cause an engine fire)

-          Car came equipped with factory limited slip differential

The car is in very good mechanical condition.   Turbo boosts consistently and there is no acceleration hesitation or clutch slip.   The shift action is smooth.   There is no grinding and the synchros cleanly engage.   Idles perfectly at 800 when warm and has no cooling issues even in 30 deg C stop and go traffic.

I've done my best to ensure that the car has received the preventative maintenance it requires in full with no shortcuts.   The turbo jam & AC compressor seize are the only mechanical failures I have had with the car.

What doesn't work

-          cruise control has been disconnected by previous owner

-          Variable wiper speed switch is broken

-          Rear latch wire mounting bracket is sheared.   This bracket is activated by the electric motor used for automatic opening.   Hatch must be opened manually

d     Buyer is fully responsible for any shipping logistics and fees for the vehicle.   I am happy to accommodate a in-person pickup of the vehicle. or potentially drive the vehicle if the distance is reasonable.   Payment will be required in full upon pickup of the vehicle.
