Porsche : 914

On offer is a nicely presented. never rusted. cosmetically restored Porsche 914 2. 0L 5 speed .  

Sold new in California. and imported in to British Columbia. Canada in 1997. this 914 has had a single repaint in Guards Red.   It retains its stock floor pans and battery box. and has never needed invasive body repairs.   There is no evidence of accident damage. and all the body panels are straight. Paint quality is excellent. especially for an entry-level classic car.   The rear trunk. which can easily corrode in the corners. is perfectly finished.

The interior has held up extremely well. The dash is un-cracked. Seats. carpets. door panels are all very good to excellent.   There is some slight wear to the top of the steering wheel. Glass is excellent.

Mechanically. the car starts up instantly. settles to an even idle. and rev's sweetly to red line.   The car doesn't smoke or exhibit any driveability problems.   The braking system has been completely refreshed including new rotors. pads and brake lines.   The gearbox. while vague in its selection of gears. functions normally for this model.   Synchros are excellent and there are no bearing noises.

It is surprisingly quick for a 4 cylinder car. and a 5 speed gearbox is relatively unique for an entry level sports car.   With a relatively tall 5th gear. the car is very unstressed at highway speeds.

SUM UP

This is a very nice example of a 914; the most desirable variant excepting the 914-6. and a California car that has never had the misfortune of a budget body restoration.   So many of these cars were badly rusted. and they were never worth enough for owners to pay for expensive body restoration. and were horribly bodged.  With the good 911's all now getting expensive. the 914 becomes a fun and interesting entry level Porsche.

Porsche Centre Calgary is a Porsche Dealer operating out of Calgary. Alberta Canada.   We are approximately 600miles East of Vancouver. and about the same distance from Spokane.
