1934 Derby Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Park Ward Drop Head Coupe.
Chassis number: B 73 BL
Registration number: BLC 653
A well known car in Bentley Circles having belonged to Mr Hubert Vass A man well known by the Paulerspury section of the RREC. The car comes with a vast set of renovation bills from Marque Specialists both Hillier & Hill. in addition to Ben Smith Engineering. The bills detail minutely the works done to the car which covers almost anything imaginable & are augmented by a diary precis of the works performed under the last two ownerships. I strongly suggest going to our picture gallery to rear through the restoration history as it far too long & detailed to list here.
The car is an early Park Ward car with rakish Drop Head Coupe coachwork finished off nicely with a spare wheel case to the rear. The recent Burgundy paintwork is in very fine order & of show quality & has a black accent to the door tops carrying though along the bonnet molding. To the interior is burgundy hide with matching Wilton carpets throughout. The hood is Black & again in fine fettle.
The car drives extremely well befitting the moniker "The silent sports car. " Overdrive is fitted by Tim Payne making for very relaxed high speed cruising in modern traffic. The suspension has all been gone though & the springs re-tempered making for a supple & rattle free drive.
A tool roll has been painfully & meticulously assembled by the current owner at quite some expense & is available from him by separate negotiation.
To sum up. this is a car that has been looked after without regard to expense & is in superb order needing absolutely nothing doing to it. It is only being sold due to the advancing age of the current custodians who are downsizing to smaller property & are having to thin out the various Rolls Royce & Bentley motor cars in their assorted garages. It is always a pleasure to handle a car for which no excuses need be made.
