EQUIPMENT
Push button floor start. Fitted rubber mats. Sliding windows. Roof vent. Ash tray. Electric heater. Windscreen washer. Spare wheel. Toolkit.

EXTERIOR
This charming Austin Seven quarter-ton van is finished in the correct Marigold orange. as used on the early Mini vans. and has been subject to a full bare metal restoration. As a result there is no corrosion at all to the bodywork. which presents well under our showroom lighting.

While the overall finish is to a high standard. the paintwork is not wholly concourse but certainly looks stunning and is guaranteed to hold the gaze of any passers-by. Furthermore. all the chrome bright work is in excellent order. retaining its factory-fresh mirror shine. Similarly. all the lenses on the vehicle are crystal clear with no signs of any cracking or moisture. It is no surprise then that all the rubbers and seals around the vehicle show zero signs of deterioration either.

INTERIOR
The inside of the van is a simple yet enjoyable place to be. Trimmed in the original tan vinyl. the seats are in very good order. as are the door cards and dash. The central instrument cluster has stood the test of time as has the steering wheel. which displays only a hint of wear to the outer edge. Furthermore. all the switchgear feels solid to operate and the Smiths electric heater presents in ‘as new' condition.

From the inside the doors are opened with the iconic pull cables. which operate well. Similarly the doors shut with a hearty thud. The rear of the cabin is also in fine condition. having benefited too from the full re-spray. Since then it appears to have never been used. Stowed behind the tilt-able front seats. the battery. spare wheel and toolkit are neatly hidden away.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet reveals the delightfully green 850cc BMC Series ‘A' engine. Installed transversely. the four-speed synchromesh gearbox is included in its sump. as is the final drive differential.

The engine bay is in very good order. as to be expected. with minimal corrosion to only a select few components. Some of the parts appear to have been replaced completely. although many seem original. having been reconditioned. The trademark ‘magic wand' gear lever operates as well as originally intended. and adds very much to the fun of driving this little car.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
Painted in the correct Old English White colour. the ten inch pressed steel wheels also present very well. Finished off with chrome hubcaps and shod in a matching set of Falken tyres. each with plenty of tread. these little wheels provide a welcome contrast to the otherwise orange exterior.

Looking underneath the car. the brake hubs and their various components appear in very fine fettle indeed.

HISTORY FILE
Built on 26th May 1960 and subsequently despatched to the selling dealer. Arthur Alsop Ltd of Newport. this Austin Seven has covered just 41. 52 in its lifetime. Unsurprisingly this example is complemented by a wealth of invoices and documentation providing a sound basis for the car's restoration and recent history.

Included with the car is an original sales brochure for the Austin Seven Van. as well as the Driver's Handbook. and Schedule of Repair Charges booklet. A certificate from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust is also included as are various other Mini brochures and items of period Mini literature.
