Capitalising on the arrival of its new V 8 engine in 1955. br/>General Motors' Pontiac division reinvented itself for 1960's
adopting a sporting. youthful image promoted by a series of
evocatively named high-performance models: Bonneville. GTO. Grand
Prix. Firebird and Trans Am. Such was the success of this policy
that Pontiac occupied third place in the U. S. sales chart for most
of the decade. Effectively an up-market Chevrolet Camaro. Pontiac's
Firebird was introduced in February 1967 using the same bodyshell
as its Chevrolet counterpart but readily distinguishable by its
divided front grille. Engines ranged from a 230 ci (3. 8-litre)
overhead-cam six cylinder unit to a 400 ci (6. 6-litre) 325 bhp. V 8.
Two body styles were offered: a two-door hardtop coupé and a
convertible.
This handsome model is in excellent condition with many
improvements and upgrades by the enthusiastic vendor. Power
steering has recently been fitted making the car much more
enjoyable to use. in addition to this. rear brake discs have also
been fitted. The grey paintwork is in very good condition and the
black interior unmarked. We are advised by the vendor that this
Firebird drives with no known faults and is clearly a car that has
benefited from huge time and financial investment and resulting in
a delightful example. Supplied with a V 5 registration document and
a current Mo T test certificate. this manual transmission Pontiac is
a real head-turner.
