Pontiac : Trans Am Trans am for sale
1974 Pontiac 455 Trans am
Hello. up for sale is a very desirable Y code 1974 Pontiac 455 Trans am. This car is originally from California and was sold at Prestige Pontiac on Van Nuys blvd. The car is an excellent driver not a show car. I will try and go through the specifics the best of my ability. Do not be afraid to ask any and all questions before bidding.
Paint - Car was painted in 2005 with a two stage polyurethane base and clear. Paint has minor imperfections that I tried to show in the pictures. Front nose has a couple cracks. paint has a couple places where rust is coming through. and some blemishes here and there.
Engine - is not numbers matching. The 455 engine is . 30 over with a Edel brock Performer intake and 1972 7M5 heads. Currently has a 490 Lift Lunati Cam. and 2200 RPM Stall. The car still has its factory 2:56 gears and needs to be geared lower for maximum power. Car has AC but is not currently hooked up. I also have a excellent condition overflow bottle and bracket that is not currently installed that comes with the car. Transmission is a non numbers matching TH400
Interior - The interior was originally all White except for the carpet. console and dash. Due to the fact that white plastic becomes chalky with time. I went with several black pieces for the interior as nicer and or reproduction pieces in black are much more common. Carpet is new. Front seat covers are new. door panels are mostly new. paneling is in good shape. Couple of pieces have paint flaking off. Dash has a dash cap on it. and a dash insert sticker over the original anodized swirl. Console I have out and will come with the car. Console has a radio in the insert and 4 inch speakers on the front. Fuel gauge and temp gauge does not work. I have some standard after market gauges installed. Car has tilt column. AC. and Power Windows. Power windows are original and work great. Doors have new rubber all the way around. Trunk has new rubber.
Body - Body work is super straight with a minor ping on the hood. This wasn't a frame off restoration and its accurately priced on here to reflect that. I have included several pictures of the major flaws in that paint and body. Passenger quarter panel has had two pieces of it replaced about ten years ago. One on the bottom and one near the window. Rear floor on one side had some minor rust holes and a crack that I put resin and por 15 over about ten years ago. Doors do not have any rust. frame rails are good. Trunk is good. If you need and or want more pictures please let me know.
Overall this car is a excellent driver and with very minor work would be a really nice cruiser. I feel like I have described the car to the best of my ability so there will be no surprises. I took the pictures on a cloudy misty day so they are a bit dark. If you need some more pictures please feel free. Buyer is responsible for transport and please keep in mind how low these cars sit. While the car is dependable and drives great. I personally would not hop in it and drive from Texas to New York in it. This is a 40 year old car. Use good judgement when it comes to transporting it.
I have the PHS and all kinds of manual goodies that come with the car!
Don't let the honesty about the cars problems scare you from bidding. All cars have problems. There are those who admit them and those who don't.On Nov-26-14 at 05:15:48 PST. seller added the following information:
Correction: I have misstyped the VIN number as someone has pointed out I put a U instead of a V for the second digit which indicates it not as a Trans am. This is a true 455 Trans am. I will upload a picture of the VIN also.On Nov-27-14 at 07:56:00 PST. seller added the following information:
