I think this model is the best looking of all the Pontons. It has the engine compartment. front fenders and hood of the 220S grafted on to the body of a 190 giving it better proportions than any of the other cars. Plus. with the 220 engine in a lighter body it has peppier performance. This is a project car. I was going to restore it and replace the 219 I've had since 1979 (which I drove exclusively for about 25 years) but I've decided to keep my current car. To see what this car could look like see the pictures of the black car at the end of the picture gallery. The body and chassis are sound according to the mechanic I took it to when I bought it and what I can see. The car has been stored inside since I bought it about 19 years ago in Manhattan Beach. CA. I haven't started it since then but it was running okay at the time. Coolant was drained. The body panels and roof have various shallow dents in them. The left rocker panel is bent at one end. See pictures for other bodywork issues. There are two rust-through areas in the engine compartment. One is by the battery box and the other is by the driver's side vent to the interior. The engine is from a 220Sb which is the same as the 220S engine except it has additional studs on the side for engine mounts.  The car originally came with a single Solex carburetor.  It now has the dual Solex setup of the 220S. The carburetors on it now would need to be totally rebuilt. I'll be selling in another auction the Zenith (220Sb) carburetors I used for years in my black car. I switched to Webers which I like much better. I think Weber conversions are available for both the Solex and Zenith configurations (the intake manifolds are different). Missing parts:There should be a sheet metal cover for the axle mount by the rim in the trunk. Not included. There should be a baffle plate behind the left front tire. There is a loose one included. but I think it's for the right side. Early cars had license plate lights on the trunk lid. later ones in the bumper guards. One pair of either type is included. (The bumper guards shown don't have a hole for the lights). There should be sheet metal partition parts to either side of the brake booster. I have them. Included. Air cleaner housing. Not included. Fender upper light lens. I have two orange ones which you can have instead. Bakelite round vent pieces in the dash not shown but included. The bakelite dash piece on the far right is missing. Not included. I can find only two good window crank handles. These two and the rest of the assemblies are included. Not shown: inside door release levers (4). Included. Interior dome light guts. I may be able to find one but for now. not included. Some fasteners are missing - screws. nuts. trim anchors. Not included. I can't find the type plate and the paint plate that go in the engine compartment. Not included. (The serial number is stamped in the right inner fender panel). One of the bakelite window trims is broken but I found an unbroken one to replace it. Included. The center of the dash had either a bakelite blanking plate. a bakelite Becker radio housing. or a Blaupunkt radio housing. I can set you up with the parts of your choosing. including a radio but these parts are not included. Sold separately. One license plate is missing. Not included. The front fenders had 220S chrome spears at one point. These spears were not used on the 219.  Chrome spears not included. The headlight switch knob is missing.  Not included. Other points:The wiring is out of the car but needs to be replaced anyway. The gas tank has a small clean cut hole which can be repaired with a rubber plug. Otherwise it looks good. In my black car I replaced the bakelite interior trim with wood parts from a 220S (I have some wood parts for sale in a separate auction). The lower dash parts and the windshield side trim need a little modification to fit in the 219. The rear door trim needs to cut and spliced back together to fit the shorter doors of the 219. Title is clear. The vehicle is registered in California under my name as a non-operating vehicle. I don't know the true mileage. One key that fits the ignition lock is included. One key that fits the door and trunk lock is included. An extra starter button is included (the chrome one. which I think came from a 190SL). I have other ponton parts that aren't listed yet. Feel free to ask questions.
