Chevrolet's 1969 Z/28 is one of the best muscle cars ever. thanks in part to its high-winding 302 cubic inch powerplant. The high-strung Z/28 engine boasted 11:1 compression & solid lifters right off GM showroom floors. With few changes. the '69 Z/28 was a Trans Am racing ready formula in stock trim.  The factory designated horsepower rating of 290 & 5800 rpms was laughable. The 302 is known to twist upwards of 400 horsepower on dynamometers. This particular Camaro Z/28 showcases its original engine. the special powerplant it was born with. verified by its partial vin stamping and DZ engine code.

The 1969 model year offered the Z/28 performance package at an additional cost of $458 on top of the Camaro base price of $2. 26. The Z/28 option also got you the Quick-Ratio Power Steering. Special F-41 Handling Suspension. 7-inch wide 15-inch Rally Wheels. Twin Stripes. and Front Disc Brakes. and a 3. 73 geared posi rear end as standard equipment.

The Z/28's no-frills interior consists of a HURST 4-speed shifter. a pair of standard black bucket seating and a factory AC tachometer. This car also features shoulder seat belts (3-Point) and a Delco AM radio. With chambered exhaust pipes behind the DZ 302. we highly recommend leaving the radio OFF. Be sure to play our video/sound movie at the beginning. Listen to this 302 wind up and idle. We ride inside it and filmed it buzzing by.

The chambered exhaust system was offered for the 1969 Z/28 and is one of the least restrictive factory systems you could have. This example is fitted with it. along with a classic set of long tube headers to help the Z breathe.

The metallic maroon paint is in exceptional condition throughout this Camaro. The paint and body are in beautiful condition throughout. The doors. trunk. and hood are correctly aligned. The emblems and bumpers are bright and detailed. The glass is in very good condition throughout. This is a great Z/28 that you can drive and enjoy.

The engine compartment displays well. showcasing the correct important components. especially the original solid-lifter Z/28 engine and factory induction components. The Holley 850 cfm. carburetor was used exclusively with the Z/28 engine along with the aluminum dual plane intake manifold. You'll note the correct alternator is also in place. recently rebuild to original specifications.

The factory trim identification plate is in its factory location. entirely legible. This Z/28 is finished in its correct Metallic Maroon. This car has been restored to a very good quality. It is evident that much of the car was disassembled during the restoration while the chassis underneath appears to be very original. We don't have an extensive owner history on the car.

The chambered exhaust system sounds beautiful. Be sure to play the video. again and again.

The undercarriage displays excellent original flooring throughout. The F-41 handling suspension is standard equipment on the '69 Z/28 along with the front disc brakes. These are power-assisted. This car is also fitted with Z/28 exclusive quick-ratio power steering. The transmission is an earlier Muncie unit as confirmed by checking its case casting. The GM bellhousing is the correct 10. 5 unit. The engine itself is the original block. confirmed by its casting number and stampings. identified in our description.

Further inspection of the interior will reveal excellent vinyl and carpeting throughout. The door panels are in great shape as is the headliner.

The trunk is clean and detailed. finished in its correct speckled paint and mat. The spare Rally Wheel. tire. and jacking equipment are also in place.

If the shoe fits. wear it. The Z/28 features 7-inch Rally Wheels underneath the F-41 suspension. Raised White Letter tires were standard equipment. this car fitted with more modern B. F. Goodrich Radial Tires sized at 235/60R15s on its wide Rallys.  The 1969 Camaro Z/28 has an un-forgettable attitude and profile. This is an exceptional example.
