Here is a truly beautiful example of the first year of the fully Elwood Engle designed Imperials. The first year the Imperial competed directly with Ford's Thunderbird as a true personal luxury car. Notice the close coupled roofline design and the bucket seat effects of the front and rear seats. This was a $6000 car in 1964. Equivalent to $45. 00 in today's US currency. The original 413 cid 340 hp engine runs and drives great. The AC has been totally overhauled with a new compressor. hoses and expansion valve and has been correctly filled with R 12 Freon. New correct 1 inch whitewall Coker tires are installed. Factory AM/FM radio has been retrofitted with an Aux connection for MP 3 use so you don't have to listen to dull crackly AM. It even has the original Reverberator rear speaker that still works. ALL windows are power (even the vents). The passenger rear quarter window. however. can only be lowered by the button at the window. The locks and the seats work as new. No rust. Beautiful chrome. The original Persian White paint shines like new. Most of the interior is the original Roman Red leather. however. the previous owner had the front seats reupholstered in a similar but not exact leather. This was the last year for the push button transmission and it works beautifully. along with the automatic releasing parking brake.
