For sale is my 1962 Coupe DeVille. I love this car. but financial reasons are forcing the sale. As you'll see below. I've focused on the mechanical and have been driving the car happily as it is. I get photos and conversations everywhere I stop in this car. It's a bit funny. Typically I get "What kind of car is that?" because it's unique. You don't see classic Cadillacs every day.

The Good
Original California Car (documented) until approximately 2002 when the aging CA owner drove it to KY to give it to his now also aging family member (who's phone number I have). That guy sold it to his neighbor about a year ago who intended to restore it. didn't. and sold the car to me. New Coker wide whitewalls. Stock wheels were sand blasted. epoxy primed. and painted black. Stock hub caps were polished. Motor has been rebuilt while car was in CA but I don't know when. just a sticker from the CA machine shop on the air cleaner. They're now closed. Compression is between 170 and 180 on all cylinders. Car is very solid mechanically. runs and sounds excellent. New coil. points. copper core plug wires. and plugs. New battery (6 months old). Transmission pan gasket was leaking. had it replaced and of course transmission filled with fresh fluid. New transmission cooler lines run (metal). Gas tank dropped. flushed. and lined. All new fuel lines ran. Carb rebuilt by the local elderly carb expert. New fuel pump. new sending unit. I've only run 100% gasoline in the car since I got it. zero Ethanol. New master cylinder. wheel cylinders. and brake lines. Shoes were as new as the elderly man had them replaced in KY. Motor has been checked out by a local shop and was told it's in excellent shape. One lifter was replaced and one pushrod was bent so all 16 were replaced. All new true dual exhaust from the motor back with dual flowmasters. Video of engine running / sweet exhaust sound here: http://youtu. be/-BW7-wOsk2o Power windows. locks. steering. brakes. seats. All work but the rear left window last week starting sticking about halfway down. I assume it needs greasing. The carpet / lining was removed from the trunk and trunk floor was treated with POR15 in preparation for replacement carpet. All chrome and trim are there and in great shape with the exception of some pitting on the top of the rear lights. Trim for over the front wheel openings is in the trunk as it needs replacement clips / screwsNew windshield gasket is in the trunk as well as the trim clips for both front and back windows. I'd planned to replace both seals and was going to replace the trim clips at the same time.
The Bad
Needs a windshield. Elderly KY owner said the kids next door were playing baseball and one hit the windshield. The only shop near me who can assure me that they will not bend my perfect trim is about 100mi away and I've simply not taken a day off work to take it over. Estimate on windshield locally is $500 installed. Needs interior. Has the Mexican blanket treatment. which I think looks cool with the satin black paint. The guy I bought it from (elderly man's neighbor) painted it satin black which looks okay but it needs a professional paint job to be show worthy. Looks cool as it is in my opinion. Someone called it "rockabilly" and I have no idea what that means but maybe you do. Ding in passenger door and trunk. Other than that the body is straight as you can see in the pictures. Needs rust repair at the rear bottom of both front fenders. I'm told this is common with this year Caddy. Needs the passenger floor pan replaced. I'm also told this is common with this year as condensation gathered in the passenger floor carpet pad. Windshield wipers don't work. No idea why. I don't drive it in the rain. so it too hasn't been a priority. Radio and power antenna don't work. Could be related. I'd rather listen to the sweet exhaust note. so that too hasn't been a concern. It has the Mark V (or VI or VII I can't recall) under dash A/C installed. I assume it was done at the dealership because I have the manual for the A/C along with the owners manual with some service notes. tag receipts. etc. from California. The A/C fan will blow but I removed the belt to the compressor as it wasn't blowing cold. I cannot imagine not driving the car with the windows down. so again. Not a concern.
I think this pretty much covers it. but if you have any other questions just let me know. My reserve price is very fair considering the background and mechanical shape of this car. If it doesn't sell. I'll get the windshield fixed. spend $3000 on the interior and relist it for a much higher reserve. Here's your chance to get a TRUE classic car at a reasonable price and finish it cosmetically the way YOU want it to look. It could be restored to stock or bagged and left as is. you decide. You see Corvettes. Camaros. Mustangs. 57 Chevys. etc. all the time but when was the last time you saw a 1962 Coupe DeVille roll by? There are none where I live and I think that makes the car even more desirable. I don't like driving the same thing everyone else has. With this car. you'll turn heads and get pictures and conversations everywhere you go.
