1955 Belvedere Sport Coupe - A Rare Hardtop Beauty
I bought this car in late 2007 from a older gentleman who was left the car by an elderly aunt who was the original owner of the car when purchased in West Virginia.  The 58. 65 mileage appears to be original by the paperwork provided when I purchased the car and by many car enthusiasts and old school mechanics who have worked on the car.   This top of the line Plymouth Belvedere was built at the Detroit factory during the year Chrysler. Ford and GM made dramatic changes to their models.    You see 55 Chevys and 55 Fords but 55 Plymouths are rare and in my opinion the best looking of the 3.  This car always turns heads due to its condition. unique design. the sound of its optional dual exhaust and the fact that you just see them often.    I bought this car for my dad because it was identical to the first new car he purchased when he was 19 (except his had a standard transmission).   It was the car he always got excited about with talking about cars he had owned.  '55 was huge and exciting year fro cars the fins started to rise. V8 were improved and Hardtops were the rage due to their open modern design.
The car needed very little TLC when I received and the paint and upholstery/carpet were professionally redone once with original colors and materials by the previous owner and still present very well.   It ran great when I bought it and it runs great now.  I did have 3 small rust bubbles not the rockers professionally repaired. a small area on the hood repaired and repainted in 2009 and the steering wheel repainted.  It has always been fully maintained and garage kept since my purchase.  In July of this year I had Fantomworks in Norfolk. professionally replace the headliner. rebuild the Power Flight automatic transmission (including torque converter). install 5 New Coker "American Classic" radials. perform a complete brake job. convert the brakes to a 2 reservoir master cylinder for added safety (67 barracuda master cylinder used to be true to Mopar and new lines run). rebuild the carburetor. install a new battery. and do a tune up.   I also had the Chrysler generator (original 6 volt car) rebuilt professionally rather than install a new or non-Mopar unit.     There are a couple small chips and surface rust starting on the bottom of the driver's door that I have included in the pictures and their is a small dent on the driver's side grill that seemed silly to address (also shown in pictures).  There is also some rust on the trunk floor (some small holes beginning) under the trunk mat which is common but the floor is sound.  All gauges. nbsp;lights. wipers. heater. cowl vent. seats. windows. trunk release. locks. hood operate perfectly.  The radio however only operates intermittently.  Chrome and stainless are also in very nice condition and I do have some spare parts and other items that will come with the car if wanted by the successful bidder.  This car ALWAYS turns head to young and old and compliments on its condition and rumble (dual exhaust option).
Purchaser is fully responsible for pick up and/or transportation costs.  The vehicle is being sold AS IS. where is. without warranty.  Successful bidder must provide Seller 10% of purchase price within 24 hours of the close of the auction via wire transfer or bank certified check with the balance due within 7 days or prior to picking up the vehicle whichever occurs first.
Feel free to email me any questions you may have and I will try and answer them as quickly as possible.  SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY PLEASE. I have almost many more pictures of this car (ad limit is 24) and will be happy to provide additional pictures upon request.  I am planning on putting the car up for sale at a couple of upcoming car shows locally. so I do reserve the right to sell this car should I receive an acceptable offer before the auction concludes.
