Ford : Mustang Super fast, Borg Warner five speed

I love this car. It's quick. it handles great. and the five speed gearbox is a dream because she pulls through all the gears and just wants to keep on going right through fifth. This car is a passionately restored 1966 A code fastback. built as a GT clone. The result now is an awesome well-built and tight car that drives wonderfully. Watch this!



I bought this car from a collector friend of mine as part of a collection. I'm normally into British cars. but this one made a Mustang lover out of me. nbsp;its 's a love object and it is just cool in every way. The builder was meticulous and created an exceptional car. I have his phone number which I will give to the new owner (he's proud to meet the new owner of his baby). but here's a summary of what he told me about the build. he started with an A code mustang he bought from the original owner. The car had about 92. 00 miles on it at the start of the project. which the original owner said was the correct original mileage. He stripped the body completely. replaced panels and repaired any rust as needed. He had a 302 engine bored and stroked and finished with GT40P cast iron heads and an Edelbrock 4 BBL carb. He mated it to a Borg Warner five speed which he says is more durable than a Tremec. He got the right headers that fit. The result is 340HP according to the builder's software. although the engine was not run on a dyno.
3:55 Richmond gears were fit to the rear for strength. and this ratio provides a great low RPM cruise on the highway in fifth gear.
Vacuum was insufficient because of the performance cam chosen for this build so he installed a vacuum pump for sufficient output for the 18PSI needed for the summit brake booster he installed. Power disc brakes are excellent as a result.
He fit a matched TRW kit of springs. shocks and fat sway bar to the front end and the steering and ride is really tight and precise.  The car rides great. Nearly new fat T/A radials (205 front and 235 rear) deliver the power and keep the car well stuck to the road. Come for a drive with me in the video!

The interior was completely restored and looks great. Everything looks great. There is one minor scratch on the trunk lid that was touched up and looks fine. Other than that. there are no flaws. she still looks new.    Check out the huge photo album I have posted on our website to see more of this awesome ride.
