Current customer rating:
A lovely example of a stylish. semi razor edge. desirable pillarless sports saloon. with the doors hinged to give unrestricted access when front & rear both open. In very good order throughout. driving particularly nicely with a sweet. crisp engine. excellent transmission. etc. Sound. with none of the door fit problems sometimes associated with this design smart. and with some useful maintenance history from recent years.
A really good. ready to go car.
Chassis No. B 78 LS.
Reg No. BWP 633.

Snippets: Inventors. Astronomers & Sportsmen : In 1932 the first owner. Cyril Douglas Terry of Moseley had invented an “improvement relating to collision braking devices for vehicles” which he sold to Gardu Ltd for some £200. 00 in preference shares.
Cyril was a director of the family concern “Herbert Terry & Sons Ltd” who in 1934 bought the rights to the “Anglepoise” lamp from the automotive inventor George Carwardine (1887/1948). he became Chief Designer for Horstmann Cars.
It was alleged that in the 1920 s General Motors pirated Carwardine's design for independent front suspension. Cyril Terry was killied in 1951 when he fell in front of a train in Charring Cross Station.
By 1956 B 78 LS was with Gerald Leslie Sargeant at “Farthings” in Selsey (in 1967 the house was sold to the famous astronomer Sir Patrick Moore & in 2008 it was purchased by Brian May. Sir Patrick remain in Farthings until his death in 2012. ).

The site of St. George's Hill was owned by W G Tarrant. designed by Harry Colt & opened in 1913 by Prince Alexander of Teck (brother to Queen Mary).
A later sporting owner was Richard (Dick) Tindell who during WWII served with the RAF in the “Liberator” 40 Sqd as a Mid Upper Gunner on a B 24 bomber.
The duty of the M-U Gunner was to check out the taxi path of the liberators. both prior to take off and after landing.
Dick kept B 78 LS for almost 30 years & his stable of vintage cars included a Lagonda & an Austin Healey in which he would often arrive at the Rugby Club in.
A keen rugby & cricket player he was a member of Esher Rugby Club for over 40 years & later became their Vice-President.
He was described as an excellent rugby player with “considerable pace & of startling unpredictability”!
