With the demise of the Austin-Healey 3000. car dealer Kjell
Qvale was looking for a new product to replace it. Kjell Qvale
eventually became a Jensen shareholder and Donald Healey became the
chairman. The Jensen-Healey was designed in a joint venture by
Donald Healey. his son. William Towns and Jensen Motors and it was
hoped that Healey could help to contribute the sense of style that
made the Austin-Healey a hit. Jensen looked to Lotus for the power
plant as they had a new. untested engine available. thus all
Jensen-Healey models came equipped with the new 1973cc Lotus 907
engine. This multi-valve engine has a claim to be the first to be
used in a 'mass produced' car with a setup producing approximately
144bhp and a top speed of 119mph and accelerating from zero to
60mph in just 8. 1 seconds.

This lovely Jensen Healey presented in deep red with a black
leather interior and has remarkably covered very few miles and is
in great condition. The vendor informs us that it has remained
garaged for most of its life and has an original hood in splendid
condition. A collection of old MoT test certificates are
present to testify its mileage as is a V5 registration certificate
and current MoT test certificate valid until June 2015. This rare
classic is due its day as it looks good. drives well and should
have been a huge success in the 70's. This lovely example could
lead the way. especially with the cracking lotus power plant.
