The Fiat 500 was produced by the Italian car makers between 1957
and 1975 with limited production of the Fiat 500K estate continuing
until 1977. It was designed by Dante Giacosa and. despite its
diminutive size. the 500 proved to be an enormously practical and
popular vehicle throughout Europe capturing the hearts and minds of
the public. Launched as the Nuova (new) 500. it was marketed as a
cheap and practical town car. Measuring only three metres
long and originally powered by a tiny 479cc two-cylinder. br/>air-cooled engine. the 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is
considered one of the first city cars. The last incarnation of the
Fiat 500 was the R model. It had a larger 594cc engine. designed by
Abarth. giving it a more usable power rating of 23bhp. and came
with a full synchromesh gearbox.

Imported into the UK in 2011. this immaculate lefthand drive Fiat
500R benefits from having the larger engine giving enough power to
keep up with modern traffic. Since being in the UK. the car has
been thoroughly gone through by Middle Barton Garage who are Abarth
specialists. Finished in the attractive combination of white with
red trim and benefitting from a sunroof. this UK tax paid car can
be registered for use in Europe with the necessary NOVA paperwork
which is available. A delightful example that is both fun and
economical to use.
