The exotic saloons of the late sixties and early 1970's are
coming into vogue but with production limited and survivors so
scarce. the quality examples from Italian Marques are not often
found. DeTomaso prodced just 244 examples of the Deauville between
1970 and 1985. The purity of the lines on the early examples
(1970-1974) capture the refinement and elegance of some of the most
desired vehicles in the collectors market place. Sources suggest
that only a total of eight Deauvilles were imported to the UK
market in righthand drive format and this is. an early vehicle. is
of the first generation design with steel bumpers. Top speed
declared by the manufacturer is 143mph with 330bhp.

This example had a total bare metal restoration undertaken in
2009-2011 with bills for £24. 00 alone from specialist. The Burton
Motor Company. Chassis and under arches has been stripped and
painted Schultz and wax oiled. There is a file of photographs
illustrating the standard of the time and work invested. The car
benefits also from a complete engine rebuild and balance by Engine
Tecknic Inc. with bills for over £4. 00 for the work which included
. 030 rebore . 030 pistons . 030 crank regrind. new bearings
throughout. new standard specification cam. cam bearings. new
lifters. reconditioned heads and new valves and seats. Also sourced
are new alternator & water pumps. oil pump plus upgraded
Multispark MSD-type Ignition. New 650VAC Holley
carburettors and engine mounts have been fitted and the C6
transmission has been fully rebuilt by Alders Transmissions
including a new torque converter. Campagnolo wheels have been
restored fully and to the highest standards (including spare) and
shod with five correct brand new period Avon tyres. Reconditioned
power-steering and brakes. accompanied by perfect suspension
geometry. as illustrated on readout papers in the files are
supplied as well as a reconditioned. balanced and painted
propshaft. All brightwork has been re-finished including brass
window trim at substantial cost to achieve a perfect detailed
finish. The radiator has been rebuilt and new hoses fitted
throughout the vehicle. New 16" Kenlow fan can also be found. br/>fitted with temperature adjusters and the engine bay is detailed to
show standard. The interior remains original and in excellent
overall condition. All original Veglia gauges are accurate as
checked by 'Speedy Cables' (with receipts for £450) and receipts
also present for a new stainless steel exhaust system (£800) and
new front windscreen (£1. 50). The car has covered less than 1. 00
miles since it's last MoT test certificate (expiring August. br/>2013) at which time there were no advisories. It is reported that
the car starts easily and settles into a steady idle with perfect
engine note. Finished in metallic Midnight Blue with sky blue
half leather interior. this rare and imposing classic saloon would
be a magnificent addition to any collection.
