This is probably the prettiest production car ever made. it is a little jewel to look at and great fun to own and drive. I have one of these cars personally and will never sell it! This is a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. This car is interesting as the vast majority of 1958 cars were 750 Series although there was gradual switch to the 101 series during 1959. This car has obviously been restored as a 101 Series example. so benefits from the rear lights and side window vents of the later model whilst being titled as a 1958 car. This may have been due to the scarcity of the earlier body panels many years ago or simply the preference of the owner to have the 'newest' look model available.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was introduced in 1954 in coupé form and was the first truly mass produced Alfa Romeo. It was also a return to elegance rather than the utilitarian looks of the earlier models. April 1955 saw the introduction of the Berlina (saloon) and later in the summer of that year the beautiful and almost ageless Spider saw the light of day. All of the Giulietta models (750 series 1954 - 1958) were driven by the all alloy. twin overhead camshaft engine with gearing via a four speed. all synchromesh gearbox. The 101 Series of the Giulietta was introduced in 1959 and retained the 1290cc all alloy engine; changes were not immediately obvious; the suspension bushing diameters were enlarged. valve stem diameters were increased. water pump bearings becoming sealed units and a simplified throttle linkage connected to modified carburettors were incorporated. A split transmission used in the Sprint Specialé was now used on all 101 models with the more efficient Porsche type synchromesh now being used within the gearbox. Importantly; the Giulietta is known for its reliability and durability with parts and services being readily available from many specialists throughout the UK and Europe.

We are proud to offer this outstanding example of a 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. Delivered new to Mr Rastelli of Borgosesia. Piemont. Italy in 1958. this superb Spider represents the “essence” of Italian glamour made famous in the film “La Dolce Vita”. Mr. Rastelli enjoyed his Alfa Spider for the next 24 years. selling it to a Mr Contreas of Dervio in Lake Como. Mr Contreas kept enjoying and maintaining this superb Alfa until he decided to restore it in 2004. in order to enter to some rallies and tours. In the meantime. he registered the car with the ASI (Italian Automobile Club). copy of the registration card is supplied in the file.

After 29 years of ownership. Mr Contreas decided to part with his Alfa Romeo. The car then was imported to the United Kingdom where it has been used and maintained accordingly by its one British owner.

With prices of the fully restored Giulietta models rising strongly and quickly. this is a rare opportunity to acquire a 3 owner from new car and ready to be enjoyed immediately. It is in the perfect colour scheme. has an interesting history. is UK registered. Texed and MOT'd. it is a car we are using daily!
