Introduction of engine
MCA-Jet engine
A third jet valve was set separately from the intake and exhaust valves and injected air or a very lean mixture. This jet air created strong swirls and promoted combustion. It was found that stable combustion could be obtained even with large exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). NOx could be reduced. and combustion improved.
The successful development of the MCA-Jet system equipped with the jet valve was first announced at the hearings for the 1978 emission gas regulations on August 5. The Mitsubishi Lancer 1200 mounted with a G11B Orion engine that used was released in April 1977. Subsequently in June. the MCA-Jet system was used for the Mitsubishi Galant with the G32B Saturn engine. and thereafter for various engines of all models from the Debonair to the Minica.
