1951 Bentley MK VI Open Special B26KM for sale
Current customer rating:
A lovely open special. originally re-bodied in 1978 by Chris Lawrence. but more recently modified and improved further. turning it into a very stylish. well proportioned car. which drives very nicely indeed. being great fun. but at the same time easy to handle. With the car is a large bundle of invoices. confirming many. many thousands of pounds spent on coachwork improvements. some excellent cosmetic work. and mechanical work including an engine overhaul.
In fact. an incredible £118. 00 has been spent between 2004 and 2012. and £48. 00 during the 1990 s. We are asking for the car. approximately one third of the amount spent on it!
Chassis No. B 26 KM.
Reg No. NMA 251.
£57. 00.
Snippets: Sugar
Initially ordered by Guy Howard Martineau a scion of the Martineau Sugar plantation family.
Family members included Harriet Martineau (1802/1876) author & an early female sociologist who campaigned against the slave trade within the sugar plantations much to her family's dismay! A hundred years later Sydney Martineau (1863/1945) won a team Silver medal in Fencing at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in the 21 st Century we meet who is undoubtedly the best known family member – Catherine. Duchess of Cambridge! Guy Martineau's interest in cars stems from when Howard (British Racing Driver) & David Martineau. acquired the French firm of Moteurs Salmson in the 1930 s in order to produce engines for light aircraft the production of Salmson cars ceased with the outbreak of WWII.
By 1954 B 26 KM was with its second owner Ian Mac Gilchrist Jackson a Harley Street Gynaecologist who upon his death in 2002 left an estate of some £1. 00. 00.
By the late 1970 s B 26 KM was acquired by Roger Deer of Iver who had the Bentley MK VI converted by Chris Lawrence into a Special.
