1957 CHEVROLET BELAIR 2-DOOR HARDTOP V8 for sale
Current customer rating:
Very good 3-owner car built in Atlanta & driven to Modesto. CA where it grew up & came to TN about 1993 involved in owner being transferred.
No salt ever.
Mileage high but can't verify any number.
Smooth frame…. we used to call them California but now know otherwise.
Excellent VIN Plate & title.
Title is TN and shows transferred from CA.
Believed to be one repaint many years back.
Original paint was Coronado Yellow w/ Ivory top.
Now Maroon and this paint is really showing its' age. more later.
Solid body supports ALL with zero deterioration.
Trunk
– no rust.
Rear outside corners
(look up from bottom & top down – no rust).
Last 6” in trunk great.
Wheel wells in trunk no rust.
Shock holes nice.
Bottom
of doors solid.
Front
fender show signs of rust from inside out (usual 57 problem). low just in
front of door. driver side.
No
hunting up of fenders. hood. engine compartment skirts. etc.
Top not used at the drive-in.
Interior replaced with aftermarket cloth
material—all require restore.
Original seat (weak from big man owner).
Headliner original.
Front mat removed so as to photo front pans—driver's side solid.
passenger side serious rust all over topside due to moisture under
carpet.
Bottom of all floor pans
look very good with no rust but passenger front you will want to replace
due to surface rust. Note:
carpet pulled from the car and thrown away show this surface rust.
4-Speed Shifter hole repaired (see
photo).
Engine
Compartment:
350/350…last owner said balanced assembly & very well could be.
4-BBL…runs & drives … (from original it was V 8 car w/2-BBL).
Part
time brakes. P/S.
P/B. Dual Master Cyl. Dual Exhaust. Dakota
Instrument Cluster. Tilt
Wheel…looks to be like 64 Pontiac. Rockers
are great along bottoms & then up on inside R. H. has a rust thru hole
(see #12 photo) about size of a tennis ball.
Location of this rust is approximately 8” forward of pillar
post that has door lock striker mounted on it.
Again remember it is up on inside. One
other hole (man made) photo #11 in bottom of Rocker just forward of right
rear wheel opening approximately 2 ¼ “ x 1” wide … Explanation is a
guess…lost a snap-on tool or trying to get to something in Rt. Qtr
Panel.
I can't imagine why. Tires:
205/60 R 15 Front … Rear 235/60 R 15. Frame
still has rear mounts from original transmission placement if you want to
go back all original. Paint & surface problems (see photos).
Paint is coming loose in places (see
photo #8 and both #1's) & surface rust only is associated with this on
upper body.
Top of car has about 3
places that the paint is loose (we tried to show in #2. #3 photos).
Lower body. a few small places will
show small rust through (see #4. #5. #6 photos). 54”
Nova rear is under the car and it's not pretty.
It functions but has gears welded (so fully locked).
This needs to be removed.
I have almost a complete 57
rear-end.
Good news… body. frame
& original spring mounts were not altered in this venture so stock
rear will bolt in. Lower
plates that take shocks were welded on but I have 2 (1 is like new and 1
is NOS) plates to put with the car. Front
Suspension is tubular & down 2” with Disc Brakes.
I have all the original to go with car
if you want to go back with stock front suspension. Stabilizer
Bar on front has 2 brackets welded to the frame horns.
This could be removed & repairs
made to dress up by good welder. Any restorer can overcome this.
Good straight car to restore and almost rust free.
Hard to find one this nice anymore.
I encourage & prefer the winning bidder to come examine this car before putting out any money.
I'll be reasonable with time frame.
Buyer must contact seller immediately after auction ends.
Payment arrangement to be made with seller.
Prefer buyer pick up car at Holladay. TN & make payment at that time.
