Classic FJ40 Nordic Blue Survivor with Many Upgrades

Up for auction is this RARE 1982 FJ 40 survivor truck.

Depending on what source you look at. there were only 750 – 1. 00 of these trucks imported into the US in 1982.

The '82 model was the second to last year that the FJ 40 was available in the US.

Many of the ones that were imported in '82 have since succumbed to the elements in northern climates. have been chopped up. used as ranch trucks. or had their rear fenders cut and v 8 motors installed.

Finding an original truck from this year is very hard to come by.

This truck was originally a California truck. and as such. has not suffered from the elements.

I bought this truck a while back with the plan to keep it and restore it little by little. but life gets in the way. and now I have to sell her.

This truck is a 90% original numbers matching truck and is > 90% rust free! As you can see from the pictures. she is unmolested and has not had any body panels cut and has all of the factory original glass.

I have included detailed pictures and a description of all rust areas below.

It appears that the paint is mostly original. but I suspect that one of the previous owners had a high quality re-sprayed in the past.

The odometer reads 295. 61 miles. but the motor went through a complete factory rebuild by the previous owner a few years ago and runs strong! The FJ 40 retains all of the factory smog/emissions equipment and is 100% emissions compliant.

The truck was recently aligned when I installed new tires and drives & tracks strait as an arrow.

The interior of the truck is > 90% original with the original factory headliner and dome light still intact.

All seats and interior door panels have been recently re-upholstered and are in great shape.

There are absolutely no electrical issues and the truck could easily be used as a daily driver as is.

However. with very minimal work. the truck could be taken from a survivor to a full blown reservation with not much more than some soft parts such as weather stripping. body mounts. and a new coat of paint.

I have installed many OEM factory replacement parts and quite a few top qualities Aftermarket parts that all have been listed below.

Additionally. I still have all of the original stock parts that were replaced with aftermarket parts (bumper. suspension. etc. ) that you are welcome to take if you buy the truck.

Motor:

Has been rebuilt in the past few years. but a recent compression test shows all cylinders with 120-125 psi compression.

Transmission:

4-Speed Transmission has had fluids replaced in the past 6 months and shifts smooth

4-Wheel Drive:

Transfer case has been drained and filled within the past 6 months. 4 x 4 works/shifts easily. and locking front hubs are free & working perfectly.

Brakes:

When I purchased the truck. the brakes were weak.

I have replaced the brake master cylinder. flushed and bled the brakes.

Now the disk brakes stop on a dime.

Minor Rust

If you know these trucks. you will likely be well aware of many areas where they are prone to rust.

This truck being a CA truck. does not have any rust in some of the usual spots such as the rear quarter panels and rocker panels.

There is a small (smaller than a dime) area of rust above antenna where firewall meets the front apron on the passenger side.

There is a typical rust spot on the body surface of the rear sill above the rear bumper on the passenger side.

This spot is approximately the size of a quarter. while it has rusted through the body surface. the structural support behind the rear sill seems to be in good condition.

The final two trouble spots are located on passenger side rear wheel well.

These spots are located on the top of the rear wheel well above each of the two body supports.
