1967 GEMS V8 MGB ROADSTER

1967 GEMS V8 4. 6 MGB ROADSTER 
This is predominately a track car. but it's perfectly capable of normal road use. I ve owned this B since 1998 and have built and developed it over the last 16 years. It is reasonably well known at Castle Combe circuit where it's capable of lapping (in the dry) around 1 min 21 secs and probably quicker as that was the last recorded time with the 4. 0 litre crank. it was converted to a 4. 6 litre in the winter of 2012.
The car runs the GEMS engine management system with digital fuel injection on a 4. 6 litre Rover V8 built by John Eales. It has a recently rebuilt (winter 2012) LT 77 5 speed gearbox and a 3. 07:1 Quaife LSD. The car was converted by myself to fuel injected V8 power in 2002 and has done 16. 00 miles. However the engine was rebuilt winter 2012 to 4. 6 with the rebuilt gearbox which have only covered around 1. 00 miles.

Engine- 4. 6 cross bolted Rover V8 with JED high compression ported equalised and matched cylinder heads. orted inlet manifold and slimmed down butter fly throttle body. John Eales' own 110 degree GEMS highlift camshaft. triplex timing chain. lightened and balanced flywheel with AP Racing clutch. lagged RV8 style manifolds. Baffled sump. 45 mm trumpets with ACT carbon fibre plenum chamber. high flow K&N air filter. Maserati stainless steel high flow injectors controlled by an upgraded ECU with Mark Adams Tornado chip. Magnecore Silicone HT leads. and increased rocker cover breatherbility going to an aluminium catch tank. Enlarged Oil cooler pipes and oil ways with new oil pump. Run on Millers motorsport semi synthetic 20/50 oil.
Gearbox- Standard LT 77 running on ATF 
Axle V8 CWP 3. 07;1 with Quaife LSD. standard halfshafts
Front suspension- Hoyle fully adjustable coil overs(Gaz adjustable shocks) all mounted with Super Flex poly bushes with custom made 1 inch front anti roll bar with rose jointed links mounted with Super Flex polyurethane bushes
Rear suspension- Composite single leaf springs (weigh 2. 5 kg's each) Gaz adjustable shocks. on Hopkinson rear anti roll bar. Anti tramp bars rose jointed at one end. polybushed at other. fully adjustable rose jointed Panhard rod
Brakes- Willwood Superlight 4 pot front calipers with 285mm vented disks on front. Rear's have Willwood Dynalite 4 pot calipers with 270 mm vented disks. Hydraulic handbrake and fully adjustable pedal box with separate front and rear Willwood master cylinders running Castrol racing brake fluid. Front brakes have cooling ducting. There is also an in car brake bias valve.
Bodywork- Custom made aluminium Bonnet. fibreglass front wings. ront spoiler(with aero Cunards). ootlid and rear spoiler. The rear arches have been widened in steel and rear valance is fibreglass. The floor pan has extra chassis legs seam welded in from front centre cross member to rear spring hangers. The front inner wings have also been strengthened with box section tubing to form a cage around the engine which in turn links up to a strengthened aluminium front cross brace. There is also a bulkhead aluminium cross brace.
Interior- door drop glass has been replaced with perspex. OMP bucket seats (drivers is adjustable) with Sabelt harness'. eather topped dashboard with centre console and gearbox tunnel covered in leather too. Oil temp gauge and Aircraft style ignition. tart and kill switch. There is a roll over hoop and in car master cut out switch. Motolite Steering wheel and recalibrated speedo and rev counter.
