Here we have an original 1966 Ford K Code Mustang Fastback which has been transformed into a custom GT 350 clone. This car should be equipped with a 271 horsepower HiPo 289 and a Toploader 4 speed transmission. This rare K Code classic was enjoyed for many years until the motor let go and she has rested in a garage for quite a while.   As one of only 5469 K code Mustangs to roll off the assembly line in 1966 this is truly a chance to own a piece of Detroit's American Muscle car history. We are offering this true K code body ( VIN shown in photo's) as a un-restored classic that is just awaiting another shot at the road and begs for a new owner to return her to the former glory.

After storing this Pony with lots of interest we decided to put her through the paces with a fresh awesome 289 4 barrel motor. Equipped with a hard charging cam which pushes the roller rockers to provide extra power for quick revs. To feed it we supplied an aluminum 4 barrel intake topped with a rebuilt Holley 4 Barrel . In addition to the Hipo air cleaner we added cobra valve covers to complete the look. To help it breathe we choose a new dual exhaust system complete with free flowing tubular headers and flow master mufflers which gave it a deep growl out the back.

We are sure this hard charging beast will turn heads with its looks and with our replacement non K model power plant it will blast past most of the traffic. We have replaced the motor components such as the 4 barrel carburetor. alternator. starter. water pump and of course the recently rebuilt 289. The fresh transmission is a toploader 4 speed with a new clutch pressure plate and more.  To make her stop we added new brakes and a tight steering box so she steers well. She is certainly not a mild  mare instead more like a wild stallion that with someones attention there is no doubt you will have a Saturday night crowd pleaser or better yet a teaser waiting to be restored.

Now for the description the car: You are looking at a Shelby GT350 Road Racer replica complete with the hood scoop stripes and yes the quarters and fender flares that were dressed for better slalom clearance while attacking the hard corners and the multiple turns associated with the road race tracks and such of the day back some 20 + years ago. You are looking at a all original body panel car as well as we can tell even the front bumper has a Ford sticker on it where it must have been replaced.

We will start with mentioning the 20+ year old paint job has quite a few flaws and of course its share of nicks or scrapes. This classic was a driver up north so the floors while solid are somewhat spotty there are no holes visible to see through and they are not falling through and are able to be stood upon. The rear quarter panels appear to be in good shape although they were painted along time ago so we do not know of the condition underneath the paint. The fenders doors. hood. and deck lid are not showing any rust through and like the rest of the car paint are intact. The roof and rear window panels are also without visible rust & look good to.

Sorry to say even though we bought 2 K code fastbacks and even another fastback with a 289 installed the previous owner would not deal. Sadly we did not get any of the original Hipo motor parts as the previous owner felt the hipo parts were worth more than market value and yes we did try to compare the eBay market prices. I was not able to make the car purchase with any of the desirable parts. I guess you and I both will keep our eyes peeled for them to hit eBay and maybe we'll be able to get them there !

When we received this beauty it was complete with a reconditioned personalised pony interior. The GT 140 MPH style dash was probably a plus as she sure looks fast. The clutch pedals push the toploader and of course the 2 +2 exclusive fold down seat is intact. A custom steering wheel was a part of the package chosen for the look and function of a road racer need we say more?

Our pictures will show you the K code snubber bracket over the rear end. This pieces is welded in place only on the K models and Shelby's.  It also has the dual exhaust hanger inside support brackets under the back seat. Not to fear on the autheticity as I do have a current title with all numbers matching and the bill of sale to complete the deal.

We had hoped to follow the original owners dream of putting it back together in a state of needing some restoration to their standards. A nice car for someone who is willing to restore this legendardy pony and bring it to its former glory.

NOTE: Concourse owners must accept that the previous owner accented this beauty to his liking with the Shelby look and sporty torque thrust D american racing wheels.

These changes and modifications are not to be documented as correct Shelby items instead to the liking of a fun loving mustang owner who enjoyed putting his pony through the paces.

We've watched similar cars on eBay bring real good money so please do not bid if you are unsable to finish the contract. We are quite sure that this car will need a qualified restorers attention to make a trailer queen but for a fun loving buyer she will be a great deal. With fastbacks being in high demand and this not being a rust bucket it has lots of potential as she is especially since it's put together with the original Ford pieces which separate it from other project cars for sale.

Please keep in mind that this car is a true gennie with clear original stampings on the aprons with the K-Code VIN as well as the frame mount snubber bracket and dual exhaust brackets under the back seat.  Hiding in a barn and then a nice garage were it was put away for many years this classic is a piece of nostalga which was stored inside many years and is a garage find like we have not found in years you know they don't come along very often!

It was purchased from a private owner in Maryland who due to a physical limitations was unable to realize his dream of returning his car to the road again. So are you the next to enjoy an eye popping look from others seeing your beauty burning up the highway or resting in your stable. Without  a bit of work this is not going to be a original numbers-matching Concourse or Thoroughbred. Keep in mind what we are representing is our view as we see it through our eyes that have seen quite a few years of classic Mustangs experience.

We are offering our clear-titled K Code Fastback as-is. with no warranty. and we have made every effort to provide complete detail and information to allow you to be an informed bidder.

An un-restored project that you could disassemble yourself and end up with a neat restored car. A good looker from 10 feet or so this car like it is would make many proud. As a clone of a Shelby GT350 we think it would please a most buyers ready to begin a restoration. We are not going to offer it as a rust free. bondo free car. It is a ready to go running project so bid with that in mind and please ask questions so we can help you to be informed.

Note : Questions or comments will be taken at 904-724-3927 also please keep in mind both of our 289 Hipo Fastbacks are for sale locally for sale.
