This auction is for a nice driving. low mileage. span >  very complete and original MGB roadster. It is a California car registered until May 2014 it has a clear title. This car is a one owner vehicle that has always been garaged. The car has been well maintained and driven on a frequent basis so it does not suffer from the problems that arise when cars have been sitting for long periods of time. Always a second car. the mileage is presumed to be correct. It recently has had the radiator serviced. rear brake work. a set of new tires. a new SU fuel pump and is ready to drive. All areas inside the fenders. front and back. where you expect to find the odd ripple or incorrect hardware are amazingly straight and correct. the car is 99. 9% rust free. all the floors. rocker panels. fenders are perfect. Under the car it still retains the original factory rubberised undercoating.   The only area that shows any sign of corrosion is the left rear panel at the bottom behind the door. As you can see in the pictures it has a few tiny bubbles in the paint in this area only.

This car still has its original paint and has a nice shine to the finish. The panels are straight and the hood is the original aluminium item it came with from the factory. In the later years of driving there have been a few small misjudgments on the drivers behalf and there are a few blemishes. the hood has had a tap on the nose. the drivers door and rear fender behind have been scraped. the right rear bumper is tweaked down a bit. there is a small dent in the front left fender near the headlight and there is a scratch on the trunk. All of these areas have been touched up with almost the right shade of blue. These items could be easily taken care of by a competent body guy and the car would be spectacular.  The doors close well. windows wind up and down easily and the panel gaps are excellent. Underneath the car is completely rust free. the floors being especially nice. The chrome is very good. the grille being original and perfect. The glass is in good condition all round. no sign of windshield chips or delamination. The doors do not show signs of cracking close to the vent windows. as is so common on these cars. The door locks all work on the single accessory key and it also fits the trunk. which needs a bit of fiddling to lock and unlock. but does work.

The interior has been redone using original upholstery kits and it looks like new. The door panels are straight and the seats done just right. The dash is in great shape having not cracked like almost all the ones I see and the carpet and sun visors are new.  The trim around the doors has also been replaced. The convertible top is older but in good shape. the zip out rear window is cloudy but still functional.

The engine cranks slowly (could need a starter soon) but starts quite easily from cold with the choke and pulls smoothly and powerfully. with no unwanted noise or any sign of smoke. It has good oil pressure (50lbs at idle 70lbs at 3000 hot) but the gauge needs a new sender unit as it is not accurate. It does not seem to overheat. The gearbox is not noisy and all synchros work well allowing smooth shifting. The clutch feels good. no sign of slipping or difficulty engaging gears. The steering is smooth and precise with no play. The brakes feel good. and it pulls up nice and straight without any noise or fuss. The parking brake feels a little loose in the handle but works well and holds the car even on a steep incline. The suspension feels fine on the road ( the front lower rubber bushes need replacing -  not a big job) and the rear axle is quiet. Overall the car drives very well.

Electrically almost everything seems to be working. including lights inside and out including panel and High/low beams. wipers – both speeds- heater fan etc. The hazards do not work. The indicator repeat light on the dash for the right side does not illuminate. but they flash and even self cancel! It even retains the original radio that sounds fine. The Speedo works but reads very high and makes a buzzing sound. the head unit probably needs servicing. The windshield washers even work but one nozzle needs unblocking.

The wiring does not seem to have been modified or repaired and is extremely original and correct.

To recap this car is a great daily driver or could be the basis for a stunning restoration due to its lack of rust. its straight body and originality. This really is as good of an un-restored split rear bumper MGB you will find. As always I would recommend driving this car if at all possible. please call 310 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid with confidence. the car will not disappoint.   I have sold many classic British cars on e-bay with all buyers leaving excellent feedback.
